I blame Philadelphia and their toxic culture amd fanbase far more than Ben for Simmons issues.

Absolutely the worst, most hostile fanbase in the NBA are Sixers fans.

They’re definitely shocking but he hasn’t helped himself by refusing to even attempt jumpers or three pointers during the regular season games.

I’m ok with Ben demanding out and refusing to report to training camp given what doc rivers and embiid said after the game.

everyone knows Philly want to trade him. He owes them nothing in terms of trying to rehab his trade value.

This appears to be something most happily dismiss that he was almost traded. From halfway through the season, he knew they were not long on him despite the contract. Doesn’t excuse poor play during the playoffs but it speaks volumes to the current malaise.

Yeah I think so too. Philly fans are losing their mind that he’s demanded a trade after the team already trying to trade him for Harden in pre season. Ben owes them nothing.

They are apparently trading John Wall. Both parties have agreed. Possibly to Boston.
Unfortunately they need another team to agree, think that will be the hardest part. No one will want him with that contract, and I can't imagine Rockets are willing to give up assets to get rid of him.

He can get bought out by the Rockets. I could see a trade involving Smart and then two protected first rounders the celtics hold to entice a buyout from Houston. Or possibly half his contract being bought out by the Rockets with Horford and Smart going to Houston to provide veteran leadership to a young team.

Smart has more value than John Wall, let alone adding first rounders.

You can't buy out and trade a player either. You buy them out then they can sign where they want/get picked up by a team, or you trade them for their full contract.

Ok fair enough. I thought though you could trade with financial considerations. Meaning clubs could agree to pay say half the salary of a contracted player and then trade with the other team taking over half the salay. Ive watched Boston a fair bit. I think you overestimate Smart and underestimate Wall. He was great for a fair bit of last year in my opinion, but yeah. Obviously injury concerns.

Nah unfortunately you have to fully match salary on any trade, so even in trades where teams send cash it doesn't count.

I just can't see Boston doing it, Stevens loves Smart and they're saving all their salary in hope of a Beal trade IMO. And the injury risk for that much money is just too high.

I can't see a Wall trade happening until 25 or so games into the season at least. Will be a bit like Iggy at the Grizz where he just sits out until something happens.

Apparently both Wall and the Rockets agree a trade is the way to go and the Rockets want their young guards playing from the get go. In my opinion a buyout is more likely than not.

Yeah they both agree the trade is the way to go, but reports are neither is interested in a buyout. Which makes sense, as Rockets won't want to pay $80+ million for nothing, and Wall wouldn't want to give up 30+ million.

A buyout could happen, but doubt it would happen before the trade deadline as Houston would hope a team gets desperate and trades for him.

76ers supposedly not attempting to trade Simmons anymore.
Good luck to them when he doesn't show.

I don't defend Ben's mental issues with shooting the three and his failure to shoot free throws at a reasonable rate. His management and inner circle have given him some shit advice and coddled him way too much.

But Embiid and especially Doc Rivers threw him under the bus on his last Philly game, and effectively tanked his value. You can't make public statements like that then expect the player to return and be all roses.

Ben doesn't want anything to do with them. So they can fine him but while it's a bit immature on Ben's behalf, he has the money to hold out.

All GMs know this, so Philly were never going to get full value for him. Now they will get pennies on the dollar.

I hope he ends up in Minnesota or another small market and makes a fresh start of it. I don't want him ending up in LA, let him learn some humility and properly work on his game.

John Wall is going nowhere, $88 million owed over next two years. No one is trading for that, and he isn't given back enough cash to make it worthwhile to do a buy out.

We already have way too many guards. Reckon it would be a bad spot for him to end up.

I don't mind it. He's looking like the only guard that can play any defence.
