Vegas 4 and you cannot go wrong

I have been using Sonic foundry Vegas 4, fantastic program. I capture in avi, render to MPEG2 then burn onto DVD through Sonic Foundry DVD Achitect 1.0 after creating a DVD menu. It took me six months before finding Vegas 4, I wish someone had of told me to use it instead of Adobe Premiere.

Cheers guys this has been a help but I'm still struggling. I converted my AVI to an MPEG but it won't burn. A few conflicts that I don't understand, I'll keep plugging away.

Kylie where did you get Vegas, Do they have a website?

Interesting.....
I'm just getting into vid editing using Premiere, and it's a pretty steep learning curve!!!

Can you please elaborate on how you've found Vegas to be easier to use than Premiere?

Cheers.

BT, the site that Joel recommends has been my bedtime reading everynight for the last couple of weeks - LOTS and LOTS of really helpful stuff in there (especially in the forums).

I found using Premiere time consuming because some things I just could not work out, my home movies turned out rather grainy. My fault because the format was not set correctly I just couldn't work it out. If I knew someone that could use Premiere I would have stuck it out.

Vegas I just find user friendly + you can purchase DVD architect which turns the MPEG2 files into DVD Video & Audio files, which burn directly onto dvd media. It is all very easy once you sit back and take it all in, it looks rather daunting. Take the time and it will come to you. Read the manual it is not too bad.

STEP 1) Vegas captures AVI, turns AVI into MPEG2. You could probably fit up to 1.5 hours onto 4.7 GB uncompressed maybe more.

STEP 2) DVD Architect produces DVD Menu's plus turns MPEG2 into DVD Audio & Video files. Burns directly onto DVD media.

If you are using Premiere you need to get a copy of Sonic Reel DVD, to turn MPEG2 into DVD Video & Audio files to burn onto DVD Media. I never could use that program correctly.

Sonic Foundry Vegas

DVD Shrink is a great program for compressing DVD Files to fit onto 4.7GB
