Bad Mobile Reception

Hope someone can help me on this one.....

For whatever reason, my house doesn't seem to get decent mobile reception.

I live in an outer suburb of Perth but definitely still within mobile coverage..

My question is, is there some kind of external antennae I can buy to boost my signal, say from Tandy's or someone like that???

I get terrible reception at work, ground floor of a two storey building.
Near the front door its fine, the further back you go, 3G drops out :S
