There’s often a ruck merry go round each year and eagles bailey Williams has hit form in a contract year

Surprised he’s a restricted as opposed to unrestricted free agent

But does a vic club bring him home

Nic Nat is his ruck coach and Williams seems to be learning fast.

Watched him in the pre match warm up with his various hitting zones etc. impressive.

Wce will surely offer a multi year deal.

Good on him

Never rated him highly but have to admit he had a very good couple of weeks after being dropped to the WAFL
lets hope he can keep it up and get himself a payday

New ruck rule was tailor made for him. Never had the size to compete with the bigger rucks but always had the insane leap.

Hit the ripe old age of 26, which is when rucks usually seem to suddenly come good.

Always a whipping boy for Eagles fans due to having concrete hands(nickname 'cymbals'), missing nearly every set shot and his ruck taps just always went to the same spot, which was straight down the throat of the oppo's best mid.

Showed better marking and goal kicking last year and now that the new ruck rules are in effect, can actually use his leap.

Just needs consistency, as he's had one of massive games before but never gone on with it but he was dominant in the WAFL coming back from injury and he's gone tot he next level these past few weeks.

Him suddenly coming good would solve our ruck issues for a few years.

Thankfully, as Txb said, he's already on record stating his only intention is to re-sign, as he was at the club the entire time it's been shit, so he wants to be there for the good times.

Nobody would pay him over $1 mil a year

To be fair, TDK got paid almost double his value.

With how important the ruck seems to be this year, and Baz (really weirdly enough) being rated as a top ruck so far this year (6th for rucks to play > half the games), it is not completely out of the question despite sounding ludicrous.

At 26yrs old and playing how he is, it is not out of the question that a desperate side drops a truck of money on his doorstep. They'd be dumb as ****, but it isn't impossible.

to me i think he might get a 5 year $700k deal but doubt its a million dollar offer

I think he will take a long-term deal on unders to stay, he is a good sort who has said he wants to pay the club back for their trust and continued faith in him.

I think the TDK thing goes both ways, it has told other rucks that they can get a lot of money in the open market for a desperate club, but as you say it is a fine line between whether or not clubs will continue to splash. A club like Essendon for example who allegedly has a war chest and no ruck I could see having a crack.

I agree though that realistically he's gonna re-sign post-bye and we won't hear a peep of it
