Great post slugga1 who ever you are. Sorry waz if you read this slugga1's my top man now, if you want to regain the title your going to have to give K.A a better spray than slugga1 just did

Just wondering what is happening with Redan in regards to 2007 - Does any one know if they have picked up any players. Does any one know who actually is still at the club and who has left.

Posted a while go was the following:
Edwards going O/Seas,
Lubeek and Jones to Retire,
Reid, Knowles, king, Ward, Quinlan, Barnett and Barker to Bungaree
Nicholson to Waubra
Peace and Waight to North Roosters.
Cummins finished uni and likely to leave

So that makes at least 14 of which 8 of these played in last years flag, with Snibson apparently undecided -his body is suspect.
Whilst Murrihy and Field ( & snibson if he stays on) remain I would suspect only for 12 months then the slide of Redan will Start, but they have been geat until now, with that North influence.

With No New North Players this year, they are finding it a bit tougher to recruit and believe other local clubs are now getting a look in at the Uni guys as they are aware that it is not going to be what is was.

Here he is - now I here you have become Power's little b!tch agian. He gives you a tap on the chin all all you do is become another Power back slapper. "Markey can I train with Sunbury" "Markey can I buy you drinks" "Markey your so good"

Great response from Serge when your name is brought up - with out a second thought "F uck Lee is dead s hit" "He looks like Tarzan plays like Jane". Think I am making things up? Next training session ask him - something tells me you already know I speak the truth.

At the meeting of the Ballarat FL Board meeting held Monday 18th December, several important decisions regarding the composition of the Ballarat FL for the 2007 season were resolved.

After considering the feedback from the Clubs submitted via the 2006 Club Survey, it was agreed that:

1) The senior competition will remain as a 21 per side competition
2) Senior, Reserve and Under 18 Fixtures will consist of 4 X 20mins Qtrs (plus Time On) from 2006.
3) Due to their being no clear majority preference for a move to a Final 5, the Ballarat FL competition will conduct a Final 6 finals system in 2006.

2007 Fixture

After consultation will the WorkSafe VCFL and our Insurers JLT, several Ballarat FL Clubs whose grounds are effectively closed, and after considerable discussions and meetings with representatives of the 3 local Government area’s that cover the Ballarat FL Clubs regarding ground availability in their shire and the availability of water, the Ballarat FL has agreed to amend the 2007 Senior Fixture to accommodate a later start to the 2007 season.

The amended Fixture is currently being devised, but it will involve:

1) Delayed start to the season – with Rd 1 being held on Saturday 28th April 2006.

Ø This 3 week delay has been achieved by removing the Rd 1 split round, the Interleague challenge V Bendigo FL and the Split Round that was to be held later in the season.

2) 18 H&A Rounds, with all sides playing each other twice
3) The BFL Grand Final to remain on Saturday 22nd September

Ballarat FL CEO Rod Ward said; “It is unfortunate that this delayed start has led to several high profile and marketable games being removed from the fixture, but it was felt that the delayed start is in the best interests of the league as a whole, as it will give all clubs the best possible chance to have their ground available for the start of the season, with the later start bringing with it more chance of much needed rain. The Ballarat FL is conscious that some clubs have suffered from the drought more than others in recent years, and in some cases very heavily, and this move will hopefully see them start with their grounds available and on “an even keel” with all other clubs.”

The Ballarat FL is very confident that our “season proper” will commence on Saturday 28th April as scheduled. It is expected that the Ballarat FL Junior competition will commence as scheduled on April 21st (with the Junior Lightning Premiership on April 14th/15th) due to the fantastic support of various local schools who will make their grounds (which are serviced by water bores) available for Junior football.

The Ballarat FL has received the approval of the VCFL to withdraw from the scheduled Interleague fixture with the Bendigo FL in the scheduled format, but some discussions will take place with the VCFL and the Bendigo FL about the possibility of holding a mid week “Challenge Match” for (for example) an Under 21 or Under 23 side during the season to give players the opportunity to play some form of representative football. Any such proposals will need to be approved by the Ballarat FL Board.

Ballarat FL CEO Rod Ward said; “We believe this is a responsible decision, and gives some certainty to Club Executives, Coach’s, players and members about the kick off to the 2007 season, and we believe that it is a responsible decision taking into account club and player welfare. The Ballarat FL also understands the need to finalise the 2007 fixture as quickly as possible to give all clubs the chance to finalise their 2007 arrangements, and does hope to have an amended 2007 fixture to clubs and media in the very near future. Unfortunately it is not simply a case of moving the previously released fixture forward 3 weeks, as there are restrictions about what dates shared venues such as McPherson Park can be used. The Ballarat FL will be now be compiling a new fixture based as closely as possible to the previous fixture as possible.”

The Ballarat FL is also now considering all options for the running of the Eclipse Ford Lightning Premiership and an announcement will be made on this in early January 2007.

I have just been reading some posts over the last 2 months and i cant understand how people think Bacchus Marsh are going to be any good this year they say they have 8 new players half of them in which played in a much lower standard of footy to the Ballarat league last year at Werribee centrals. They had 3 players last year that may be a walk up start in another side in the Ballarat league Larson who hardly played Connors and young Shea the rest of there senoir side would not have got a game anywhere else The top 4 reserves sides last year would have beaten the Marsh so with Larson going o/s and connors elsewhere they need to pick up 20 new players to be competitive and not average 30 goal floggings that they have had over the last 5 years

Maybe so FootyFat, we'll just have to wait and see, but there's nothing wrong with trying to be optimistic, can't be any worse than the last few years. As long as we are competitive, and let's get one thing clear no one is talking premierships, as we are a fair way off that. Who do you support FF??

Totally agree with you footy fat. I saw Michael Smith play when he was East Point and he was really struggling. I believe the only reason he kept playing in the one's while he was at east was because of his best mate Dion being the coach at the time and the amount of cash that he was getting paid along with the big write up in the paper that East had signed Ex Western Bulldogs player.

I remember playing against Smith, and dion wrote him up to be a superstar, he really struggled and if there relying on him to get them off the bottom, that is laughable.... Never manned up and was destroyed defensively, and couldnt find the ball himself....Long year for the MArsh....

Jai Miles can play though..... will be very good of a back flank..

Fatty, agree with most of your assessment, but think you under estimated the kid - Rowe (ruckman) and the Boy - Veldon, goes alright also.
Some of the others coming in will have to find feet, which could take 6 weeks. Dion has done this before with East and achieved nothing and I think some of these blokes are back for a second time without making any impact. East probably had better core of players than the Marsh...so still could be tough, look they will improve.

i have seen a bit of Jai miles i personally dont think he is the player the Marsh think he will be he is a half back flanker at best has good skills and can use the ball but he does not like to go and get it hangs out and receives all day so he has to have good players around him to have an impact for a bloke that is S#*t scared he rates him self

All I can say is I hope I can respond in about round 6 or 7 and we have won 2 or 3 games to that stage and be satisfied that we are at least having a crack out on the paddock. If not, then I'll just shut the F@#k up, and put up with another ordinary year. But as previously stated I'm an optimist, so I'm hoping the Marsh can turn there fortune around a bit and at least give the supporters some hope

smithys knee is gone (twice) MILES A RECEIVER NO HARD BALL GETS FOR HIM UNLESS CHANGED HABITS FROM WRFL DAYS WILL STRUGGLE BIG TIME IN BFL BUT RATES HIMSELF

It's simple to say the Marsh will be no good this year, and no one (even the marsh followers) have said they think they will even make the finals, so i dont think they are talking things up to much.

All they are doing is feeding big footy with insider knowledge of who they have recruited and how they think they will compare to last year. ISN'T THAT WHAT BIG FOOTY IS FOR? so lets try not to slam the marsh or its posters just yet. even if these players aren't super stars and wont win the marsh a premiership, at least they are recruiting... Something that they would normally find hard to do after only winning 3 games in as many years.

So i'd say 10 new recruits is a great stepping stone for further developments at the club without trying to buy a premiership before it is feasible when lacking a strong core group.

The 10 new recruits might be the difference between winning one game in the lean 2006 and winning 5 or 6 in 2007 and making football more enjoyable for the locals. (they lost 3 or 4 close ones this year so the recruits they have might just tip the scales)

Can someone fill me in on all ballarat Football Laegue clubs and how there recruiting is going there does not seem to be many posts on club ins and outs can some one shed some light

Smith is not playing from what I have heard. He did his knee last year so he cant play. He is there just simply to help Dion out.
The Marsh aren't expecting huge things to happen. We just hope and think that there will be improvement in the list.

absolute terrible post... even if the 8 players played at a lower standard they will still help imrove the marsh if they can get in the best 18. and to say only 3 players could get a game elsewhere is ridiculous. remember they beat melton sth and pushed ballarat all the way in 1 game... yes i agree they may be in for another tough year but improvement is all there looking for... and to say reserve teams would beat them u deckhead... although it might be close:p

Ok hero name the Top 5 players after Larson Connors and tyson Shea and tell me where they would fit into any other side they have no key forward no key back man pull ya Saucehead in and think about it Redan Sunbry and East 2s would have beaten them last year. And i did not say they would not improve but i said after what i have herd people saying the Marsh have got all these players and will be good next year. Im saying they wont be that good because the players they picked up aint that good

mate if you had seen any games you would know that the marsh matched redan for nearly a half. yes their senior team. they where also competitive against other teams for patches but with inexpeirience comes inconsistency. if you want names, hunter, veldon, rohan connors, leigh wilson, matt and ash whittle and dave gardiner would have no trouble playing in any other side where they dont have to carry the team and can slot into a pocket somewhere. mate even redans and easts bench players werent that great, and to suggest that their better than 18 blokes at the marsh is a joke.

Obviously you have one eye covered for this topic. if you call being competitive, being down by over 10 goals at half time against Redan then yeah they were probably competitive all year. Open your eyes, yes they have some good solid players but they need some key position players. start with a quality backmen, forward and even a ruckman.

mate i said nearly a half. if i remember correctly they where beating them at quarter time!!! yes they do need quality key position players but more importantly quality onballers. as for a ruckman, well the one they had this year is training at werribee in the vfl so he cant be that bad and they have just rucruited another one from the bendigo bombers.Obviously you have one eye covered for this topic.
