Not to the flanks. All you disappointed people ring the club tomorrow and have a go at Balme, he's more value taking a terd.

Agreed. Add Cole to that list. Between them they had 6 or 7 goal assists, for Adelaide.

I will also add that I am the first one to criticise Shaw and his mistakes but Adelaide game was probably was one of his best games, definately his best game since the end of 2003 apart from when he shut down Aker and to a lesser extent Judd.

Cole has been pushed out of the backline by Chad and now Lockyer coming back. The wing is the perfect position for him though. Too much of Coles good work busting through the packs comes undone by poor disposal. He needs to work on his kicking while running and decision making by foot.

You are correct others did make some mistakes.

But Shaw does it ALL the time.
Why must he always kick to the boundary?
Why does he always handball to a team mates feet?
Why must he always run to a pack?
Why does he always give it off to a team mate in a worse position than he is?

thing is we get rid of him an who would we get??? theres no1 else really out there...although i'd like 2 stan alves or david parkin or perhaps blighty come in as coach, they'd clean the whole club up an they wouldnt be afraid to drop players that dont perform like rocca

Hi all

Don't post often but having spent yesterday at the footy and only managing to bring back pages 15-20 of my footy record as a result of smashing into the seat in front of me every 5 minutes i just have to get a few things of my chest.

I am sick of MM blaming the players for everything. He has now been there 5 years and it is time he took some responsibility for what happens on field. After all the players are on the list because he wants them there. Its not like he just took over this year.

The most annoying thing is that the same players continue to make the same mistakes - no improvement. That is as much the coaching staffs fault as it is the players. Surely blind freddy can see the following:

1) Shaw turns the ball over only when he tries to kick short. His accuracy over 40m -50m is quite good. Either improve his short kicking or more preferably get him to kick long. He runs with it 20m and if he kicks long to position then we are 60m up the ground with another possession.

2) Lonie is the type of player that needs to stand up for us but looks like he lacks courage or does not know how to get the hard ball. If he lacks courage he should be gone. If it is a technical matter then the coaching staff should get the sack as it has been going on too long and they have not addressed it. The frustrating thing is he is the perfect build and speed for what we need in the mid field - either fix it or get rid of him if it is courage issue - don't just do nothing!!

3) Richard Cole has problems with decision making and poor skills. The last place we should be playing him, if at all, is in defence. He was directly responsible for 4 goals against us. You can not have time bombs in defence.

4) You can not beat the flood by separating Rocca & Tarrant - one at CHF & the other at FF. They must both play out of the square so the flooding players have to split up not knowing what contest to go to. At the moment if the kick looks like it will got CHF they know we will kick to Rocca and flood to there. If the kick looks like it will go to FF they flood there knowing he is our only option. This is especially so at the Dome where the conditions allow teams to run the ball past the centreline and therfore kick to within 30m of goal. The amount of times the ball was sweept away because the flooding players knew where to go frustrated the crap out of me. This is a gameplan problem and once again MM need so take responsibility for this. There are many other gameplan issues that stand out but this email is going to be long enough as it is.

5) We will not improve unless MM stops blaming others and takes full responsibility for on field performance. Tarrant has not been the same player since Terry Daniher was sacked after our Grand Final loss (obviously blamed by MM). MM complains you can only do what you can with the list you have - that is his fault he has designed the list over the last 5 years. MM is unable to admit trading/draft mistakes and continually plays the players he wanted despite them not being up to it, to (what seems to me) save face.. Andrew Williams was swapped for Damien Adkins. A tall for a small, skillful quick who when not injured gets a game in the best mid field in the comp. Williams tries his heart out but is not up to it -give it up Mick. Morrison, as much as he has done nothing wrong is not what we need. He lacks pace and will not be the answer for us in the mid field.

6) Swapping Paul Williams for Clement & Holland shows what can happen if we are courageous enough to trade by giving away what was at the time an area of strength to shore up areas of weakness. Not getting Nick Stevens was a blow to us. Trading & drafting is also something that MM needs to take responsibility for.

So in summary all i am saying is that we have similar problems to what we had last year and even in the grand final years with some players. It is a sign of insanity to keep doing the same things but expect a different result - it doesn't happen. Either the coaching staff are trying to fix the negative aspects of the players and therefore the said players should be gone or the coaching staff are not doing their job and they should go. We can't not do anything and keep arguing about the same things year in year out without someone at the club having to take responsibility for it. Lets not just sit on our hands and hope for the best.

can't see MM going anywhere unless the arse falls out of our season and we finish bottom two. Who do we replace him with is still the biggest question and he can proberly thank the footy gods for there being no obvious replacements. Balme however should go, he performance in a pivitol role at the club has imo been crap

What about Mark Harvey? Or Gary O'Donnel? Both have served long apprenticeships but I would take O'Donnel. He does not have a great profile, but Leigh Matthews has continually said he would make a good coach. He has worked under Lethal and Sheedy, two of the better coaches of the modern day era. I would take him and get him to turn over 60% of our list and replace them with young kids. Our drafting has been disgraceful in the last few years and we need to start again. To be frank, our list cannot get better unless it is changed dramatically.

How about Robert Hyde. He must be doing something right down at the Calder Cannons, 3 Premierships in the last 4 years with a team that keeps revolving as players leave the system. Ok, he is not an assistant coach at AFL level but his record speaks for itself. Put him on a 2 year contract to see what he can do. What have we got to lose?
