He just loves those dinky little kicks where it seems he just drops it on his footy and hope it goes right, but it hits the target every time.

McGovern has condensed complex, tactics and structures driven modern football to three simple rules.

1. If someone kicks the ball towards you try and mark it.
2. If you have the ball try to kick it to someone on your team.
3. Be really good at 1. and 2.

He's getting paid a million a year for his epic back yard kick to kick skills. Not a bad gig.

He spent time in Warburton playing in the dirt

And it shows ......for a big guy ....he rarely falls over ...Has deft touch

That’s all the skills you learn playing in the dirt ...he has the got the best hands

For all the plaudits landed on Alex rance .....rance punches ...and engages body contact

Gov just says...screw you im marking this ....I got this ....not bagging rance ....but gov is sublime

Lol would live to see what he could do if he was actually half fit ....

Often we over complicate this game ......it’s not rocket surgery.....

He is a gun the whole Eagles backline are freaks.

Thanks mate and bad luck

Our backline is phenomenal.....hurn Barrass Gov Schofield Shep cole Duggan ....

They are all young ish too .....so if we can keep them all we are in years for successes

To be fair he did break those rules yesterday for a flag. With the game in balance he played the percentages and used his fist. :D Then chased the loose ball down and saw it over the sideline. Huge waste of energy.

Nicnat probably won’t play, gaff could go, venables still developing, Vardy no A grader, Masten no A grader. It’s a decent squad though, so I see no reason we couldn’t challenge again next year with the likes of Cole, Duggan, venables, Rioli and Ryan all super young with improvement expected. Wouldn’t be surprised to see OAllen really push into the 22 next year also.

Would love to nab Kelly.

NicNat will be back just after the halfway mark.

Not sure on Gaff. Missing the premiership might change his mind.

NicNat will be a part of the side pushing to September.

Vardy was a gun today. Have him as the backup ruck and third tall forward.

Masten was quite good today. Every good side needs his type.

Venables has been very good late in the year, expect a good 2019.

Don’t know enough about the younger WC players to comment apart from Brander who went high in the draft.
Brander plays very similar to Kennedy of a couple of years ago but can also move back, or play the higher Reiwoldt role, but is nearly as quick as Darling. Very agile, can accumulate more of the ball than a lot of KPF and very good at ground level.

Played some great WAFL games, but will build into being an AFL level gun like Kennedy did. Oscar Allen though is more that versatile, day 1 type player and looked better than just AFL standard in his flashes playing a link up role and lock down defender very briefly this year. Forward or back, I think he will have a Darling or Barrass like impact when they got their first full season. Just hungry, game smart and ready.

My man has literally figured a game that allows maximum caloric retention.

Maybe as a pure defender, but there's so much more to defending these days. Zone players influence games more, and McGoverns kicking from defence is superb.
Barrass is a pretty powerful athlete and a beast kick. You see it when he is given McGoverns role and it's why he could contest Cox at full reach.

I actually think he is more suited to being an intercept player, but he is learning the 1v1 role pretty well.

True.

Media heads like to talk up gameplan complexities. In the end it usually comes down to who plays football more instinctively.. Move the ball fast, into space, run hard, get open. The team that's thinking is usually losing.
