Bartlett issue

Sorry for this but....
Could someone give me a quick wrap up why he walked out on the club and has never returned.
I know its my age shining through but any help would be much appreciated.

He never actually walked out on the club.

Following some lean years on the field, he was sacked by the Richmond board in 1991 - following the Richmond tradition of sacking coaches prematurely.

He vowed to never return to the club until all of the board members who sacked him left, and I think one of the them is still there.

Basically he was told his contracted which expired at the end of 1991 would not be renewed. So he wasn't sacked so to speck they just let his contract expire without telling him until they got Allen Jeans signature.

Was poor form from Richmond letting K.B think he was going to coach in 1992b but going behind his back and appointing Jeans.

I'll never forget the Cheer squads last Banner for K.B.

Should KB just get over it, or at least make appearances at some club functions e.g Hall of Fame etc ?

I'd like to see him return, but only if he really wants to. No point doing it out of shame or anything.

However, I don't think he should have been made an immortal. A legend OK, you can get that as a player, but surely an immortal involves almost continual involvement - playing, coaching, administration, just being around, etc. I'd think Francis Bourke better qualifies there.

Normally, I'm a great believer that if you find a thread that you don't care for, you just keep out of it. That's generally my way of showing my attitude toward an issue.

Now, I actually have gone well past caring for whether KB comes back or not, but still feel the need to say it just one last time.

Let it go.

As for his return possibly giving the players some sort of lift ... very doubtful. Most of them weren't even alive when he was doing his best work for the club, and apart from the likes of Richo or Joel, who would have been around the club as infants due to the involvement of their dads, most would only know Kevin Bartlett as a name on the club honor board.

All the whole issue does is give the likes of Sheahan and Wilson something to write about whenever a big Tiger night id happening. How about they just pay tribute to those ex-Tigers who want the honors.

I have the answer...

Wayne Campbell of Richmond brushes his hair before taking a kick, with the same dedication that Matthew Lloyd tosses grass into the air...Other Tigers do likewise.
If I had a $ for every time a Tigger brushed his hair before taking his kick...
The Long-Haired Tiger mentality is the reason why Bartlett will not return to Punt Rd.
He wanted to create a lineage or dynasty of Bald-headed, anorexic little jockeys in his own image...
His master plan was foiled when certain board members, led by Edward Beale, surprised him with a coup-d'etat and kicked him out.
Bartlett, as coach, had banned all shampoos, conditioners, hair gel and mousse, and used the infamous comb-over as a legitimate tactic...this could have rivalled the tactic of flooding if allowed to go unchecked...
