So how are the ears of the Bigfooty family?

I've long suffered from the effects of industrial deafness, mostly through live music and playing in bands - I dount I would be surprised to find that "What?" or "Sorry?" are one of my most common phrases that I say -

My Dad and Grandfather have both had plenty of years around bricksaws and the like to fill me with confidence of a later-life of not being able to hear very well...

I could only just hear 12,000 hz - after that it was all silence (besides some clicks which I don't think were supposed to be part of the test) - As a result my ears are (apparently) averaging older than 40 years old, even though I'm in my (very) late 20s

Obviously this isn't a super guide, but thought it be interesting nonetheless to see how high some of the bigfooty posters could hear

Could hear up to 15 on these shitty headphones at work. Will give it a shot on my good headphones at home.

If my understanding is correct since it is just a frequency playing it louder or in better quality won't help if your ears can't actually process the sound?

These headphones are just plain shit, so I wouldn't be surprised if the headphones themselves couldn't play the note :p

Im not expecting a different result, but would be interesting to see if its different with noise canceling headphones.

Fair enough, now i'm going to try as well :P

I could hear 15K, but not anything above, which means i'm under 40.

I'm 19  The perks of being an audio engineer and playing in bands :D

I had exceptional hearing 4 years ago when I was 21. Did a hearing test during my application for army reserves. Perfect hearing pretty much.

Was away with Army one time and we were doing a machine gun shoot at night with night vision goggles and my hearing protection fell out. I continued on and when we finished up all I could hear was a high pitched ringing and could just make out what people were saying.

To this day my left ear is constantly ringing. The hearing in my right ear is worse though ( being my firing side) but at least it doesn't ring.

The other day they were testing the fire alarms at my normal work, and I stuck my finger in my left ear to block it out so I could concentrate, and I actually couldn't hear the alarm in my right ear at all.

Have had my hearing tested at Army since and it is woeful. At one point they stopped the test and asked if I was taking the piss, and that they could hear the tone outside of my headphones and I couldn't hear it at all.

Moral to the story kiddies- Look after your hearing. Once it is damaged you don't get it back.

I'm 19 and could hear all of them. The last one (19,000hz) very faint but I can hear something.

Been fairly lucky, my eyesight was perfect last check and my hearing is very good as well.

Nothing yet!!!!

Couldn't hear shit after 15.

Heard them all. Last one is a continual faint din like an ongoing click. Wouldn't how high you have your computer/headphones turned up be greater than ear strength in determining the test?

could hear all, I dont go to festivals and stuff but I do listen to alot of music. After 15k it wasnt one continuous sound though, it was clicks.

edit: realized you need to have it on 1080p I can barely hear 17k.

Could hear all of them on 1080p. I've done plenty of proper hearing tests, the secret is to hold your breath and breathe as quietly as possible, makes it alot easier to hear the sounds.

1080p, still can't hear shit after 15000:(
