Seeing the Tigers didnt make the playoffs I am very disinterested in basketball at the moment. What is happening in it anyway??. Who does everyone think will win the championship series??. Football is much better I think. Take a look at my website.

I like most sports and basketballs not bad but Ive never really taken much interest in it. Not enough contact and the game just seems to go up and back and lacks a bit of excitement.

watching a ball go up and down a 30 metre court, continuously scoring 2 points isnt that exciting. You may as well fast forward to the last minute of the game and just watch that.

Have you ever actually been to a game? I wasn't a basketball fan at all until I went to a few exhibition games between the 36ers and the Crows. I got interested and luckily for me the 36ers are sensational, and the Clipsal Powerhouse is fantastic. The atmosphere is great, and the fans really know their stuff.

Basketball is what keeps me sane over summer, lol.

Never actually seen a live game but from what Ive seen on telly it doesnt seem that exciting. Maybe I'll change my view if i go and see a game.

Its not one of my fav sports to play either so thats another reason for me not liking it as much.

You can never get the full experience of a basketball match unless you are there.

It's like watching footy on tv, its just not the same!

I suggest you drag your butt to a game one day!! :D

I haven't been to a game, but i plan too when I move to Perth in 2 years. Its not as good as footy, but I still enjoy it and I'm sure the atmosphere at the game is outstanding!

Why not save everybody alot of time and hassle and just allocate eacvh team 100 points and play the last 5 minutes of each game ?

That way you can cut the crap and get to the point of the whole exercise alot quicker ! :D

Seriously though - I don't mind basketball, the game itself is quite good, its all the American style hype and hoopla that annoys me. There is way too much advertsing signage all over the court and way too many breaks and time -outs in the general play. The way they employ spruikers on the PA system to rev the crowd up is crass and stupid.

Take away all the crap and the game itself is a very good one.

For this reason I much prefer Olympic and International Basketball to the pro-club scene.

International Basketball is great :

- two 30 (i think ?) minutes halves instead of 4 quarters.

- Minimal timeouts

- No advertising on the singlets, and absolutely minmal signage and display advertsing at the venues (none at all during the Olympics)

- Restrictions on squad sizes and substitutions.

- No hype, no spruiking, no glitz, no pom-pom girls no bullshit - just basketball.

cheers

Basketball is the one American game I like. It's fast, athletic and skillful, unlike Baseball and Gridiron which is 80 or so minutes of "sport" in between three hours of commercials.

C'mon! There are more commercials in AFL telecasts then in baseball or gridiron matches.

Interesting. I've never been a big fan of basketball, but I think a lot of that would be to the overdose "hooplah". I agree with BSA, I think International stuff is much better, the less fluff (which Aussies have never been fond of, IMHO) the better.

My passion is basketball. Its the greatest game in the world, its powerful, graceful, beautiful, fast, athletic and amazingly skillful.

The NBL and european leagues are so so but the NBA epitomises what i said above. Truly the best players going at it night in and night out. The game itself has suffered a little with the great man leaving centre stage for the golf course but the game is still pure.

Basketball ..... i love this game.

The AFL does have a lot of commercial breaks, but a gridiron match goes for between 31/2 to 41/2 hours yet they only play for 80 minutes. What do they do with all that extra time. Show commercials.
