Jake Batchelor's best games are serviceable, but when he's playing poorly he has shockers and gives away team hurting, dumb free kicks. I hope he irons out the 'dumb acts' in his game. His 'ups' are alright. His 'downs' are awful. I thought when McGuane went, we had rid the team of wasteful free kicks, but then Batchelor fills the void.

Not sold on Batchelor until I can see him play without his frequent, team hurting, careless acts. Hope he concentrates more. He even looks amazed when he gives away a dumb free kick. Why doesn't he get it?

It was only about a month ago people here were raving about him? Things change quite quickly.

His best is serviceable? Your confusing him with Jackson.

I agree he makes some errors, although watching the replay of the game, ALL his free kicks against were not there. Look at the tape also and he did some good work defensively.

I think he and well, all the backline play better with Grimes in the side. He is coming back from an "injury" so think he will be back to his best soon enough.

what do you expect of a kid in his 2nd season? Batchelor is miles ahead of McGuane as a defender, and his so called 'stupid free kicks' came from shit umpiring.

crap thread.

Batch doesn't worry me at all. The umps bent him over today like last time. Best second year player we've had in a long time doing an excellent job because of injuries and senior players like McGuane having no f ing idea.

Batch is a 200 game player and very special.

I think Batch has a bright future, but sometimes his attitude seems misdirected on the field. I might be knit picking here but his attitude on social media doesn't seem all that professional.

Has me concerned too Delibrate .. not just the stupid free kicks either, his attitude down right stinks IMO, doesnt commit his body when helping a team mate, decision making is just lazy and will always look for the soft backwards handpass and whats worse when I noticed yesterday he was one on one with a younger lighter GWS player while in front chasing the loose ball and let the GWS get first hands on the ball. His other problem is he goes to ground all the time instead of keeping his feet.

I have watched his last 3 games closely, he needs a reality check in the seconds to get some touch back and I can't wait for Grimes to return.

The free kicks against Batch y'day were there (just). The problem was 3 times he made bad decisions and we suffered for it.

nobody was raving about him... i think you're delusional

I think the kid could be a very good player , my concerns are that he appeared to come into the season under done and as such took a while to get cracking and hasn't re-captured form after returning from injury . The issues could be between his ears and whether he actually has the fire in the belly, however given he entered the club after we started physc accessing players I assume it shouldn't be a problem ?

You lot crazy? Batch was a victim yesterday of some really poor umpiring decisions that resulted in either goals or forward attacks by GWS

IMO he would be the second or third picked down back each week and is streets ahead of anyone we have at coburg. I see him playing 200 games so I am not worried

Plus the fact because of injuries he has been given massive jobs this year. He was meant to be playing on the wing this year for a second year player he is exceptional. In past years a player like Batch wouldn't debut to the end of his second year get 5 games in his third and get delisted.

I love Batch, but he has had 3 shockers in a row now. Wouldn't surprise me to see him dropped for Morris.

his best is plenty better than servicable, i agree though not unlike tivers that he makes some blues that you would think are beyond him..., last week he was involved in the clanger that changed the tide back freos way....needs to eradicate the miskick that gets intercepted and silly frees...he's better than that...and that free for the hoppo bumpo, sheesh, defenders have done that for years, first time in my life Ive seen a free kick paid against it:confused:

Just maybe over the past two weeks , after the media pumped the side up , some have been alot more inclined to run forward rather than into defence . Our defence has looked a little vulnerable over the past 2 weeks an it hasn't just been Batch . Rance , Houli , Newman and Griffiths have all looked a little shakey .
Time to re-load .

That free at the start of the 2nd was absolute horse s**t

Probably the worst free kick given in the history of the game, I agree, but worrying to me was Batch's response. He was pinged and then soon as the goal was slotted through he went back to doing the same crap. Really????? Dumb-a**e football!!
Batchelor has gone backwards at a rate of knots in recent weeks - much of it attitude. He'll strugle to keep his spot next game.

yep me too.particularly the brain fades and not committing with the body.posters are quick to hammer houli but batch has escaped the same criticism.

somebody has to go out for Morris/Grimes, think it might be him. Needs to work on some areas of his game, I still think he has a bright future, but his last few games have been below par.

Really? Go back to earlier games and see the posts where people where saying how good he was.

His first year in the system was amazingly good, this is his second year and he has had some off games, but obviously has the talent. Yesterday, three umpiring decisions against him were complete and utter bs.

It was bullshit and he proved a point. If it was a legitimate free the ump should have kept paying them until he stopped. Ump didn't pay it the second time because it was bullshit.

Happy for him to have a quarter or two with coburg this week. Give him a run in the mids or lose on the wings to get some confidence back (assuming we can do this on with our bye, not sure on the rules there)

As for dropping him, wow. Yeah he has had a couple of bad games, lots of people have had bad games the last couple of weeks. Half of the team would be out based on that logic.
