I emailed their president to ask how they got port colors ...

No unfortunately we are not linked to Port Adelaide. We formed as the Bathurst Bushrangers back in 2004. When we did that we put out a vote among the clubs members to decide our name and colours, as it turned out the colours that proved to be the most popular were the port Adelaide colours, which is what was adopted.

The runner up in the vote for colours were the kangaroos, blue and white.

As far as the name that really didn’t have any alternative everyone loved that from the start, and the development of the logo was pretty easy from there.
