I have seen all of the released episodes up to now... and I have to say it is a great series, although alot of the old timers who watched the original series have all basically given this mini-series the thumbs down, but they are the hardcore fans. Basically they changed some of the original character genders and a few more story twists... but in the end this is quality TV.

Rewatched 2003 miniseries. Looks more like a TV series than I remember. Watched it in 16:9 aspect ratio split into two episodes whereas the DVD back in the day presented it in one really long movie and even more widescreen so that could be why. Some of the special effects showing their age. From memory they didn't film in high definition until 2004's season 1. Starbuck was right to grow her hair out over the series. Doesn't look as good short. Can see why they're trying to get a reboot off the ground. This itself was a reboot. Fantastic premise. Apocalypse into post-apocalypse on the run in space.

Seeds will be happy to know I thought the finale was awful.
They didn't stick the landing, but the journey of getting there was at times excellent.

This was my Game of Thrones. Loved it and couldn't believe Ronald D Moore and co shat on their legacy so badly. Its Bush-Howard years "**** you" themes spoke to me in my very early 20s.

The original was a rip-off of Star Wars, complete with cheap special effects - with the same fight sequence, shooting & explosion, being used over & over & over again. That said, it was very good fun to watch - both back then, and on replay when the DVDs came out.
