BBL Expansion

As the title suggests, this thread is about the expansion of the Big Bash League. Here I will be compiling all the news I see regarding the expansion of the league.

Fremantle would just be Perth 2. There is no difference what so ever.

I also seriously doubt a Launceston team in particular is anywhere near being viable.

I doubt it'll happen but i wouldn't mind seeing a Trans Tasman Big Bash.

BBL is about right already but NZ would make sense

just my personal preference, but I hope it doesn't expand.

it will also dilute the quality of cricket.

if they want to expand it, then make everyone play each other home & away (14 rounds) and perhaps all current teams to play 2 home games elsewhere.
eg. stars & renegades 2 each Geelong , hurricanes 2 @ Launceston etc .

Why dilute the standard, it hasn't worked for the AFL.
Keep the standard high on the mens side coz you still have the womens game for light entertainment.

Auckland, Wellington would be the only ones I’d like to see

Has to be Canberra. And not only should we have a BBL Team, but we have a Sheffield Shield and one-day team as well.

There is no reason whatsoever to let in Kiwi expansion teams.

Does not benefit CA at all.

More games to sell in a fresh time slot...

Have to share revenue with New Zealand and Australian audiences would rather watch matches involving Australian cities than Christchurch v Wellington.

From a cricketing, not financial, point of view its just about time the ACT were in the Shield (and ListA Cup, no point only being in one it makes it difficult to attract talent).
Having another team might stop CA meddling and trying to bring youth through at the expense (for now) better players. There is only one FC ground though, and the side would need to rely heavily on interstate imports. Hopefully, like Tas, over time that reliance would decrease, but it will always be there.

As for BBL, we get too much of it now. It really doesn't need any more teams.

They'll do what the AFL did and bring in a second Perth team to weaken the Scorchers, like how they allowed Freo in to prevent an Eagles dynasty.

In all honesty, these extra games brought in from this year onward allows the foundation for another team. Geelong, GC, Canberra and NZ are in the picture.

Well that’s only 2 matches. All the other matches featuring NZ teams would also feature an Australian side

Or if they wanted to increase matches they could just have a 14 round season.
