The match day report laid against Melbourne’s Brent Moloney for striking Richmond’s Ben Nason during the second quarter of Sunday’s game was assessed. It was the view of the panel that the contact made was a bump which did not contact Nason high. Contact was made to the shoulder area. No further action was taken.

I read somewhere that Nason got a chipped tooth from that collison. How was there no high contact? I'm not complaining, this is how the rule should be but I feel for Buddy who got rubbed out for what seems like the same thing.

If your running with your mouth open and someone hits you hard in the body you can chip a tooth just by the reflexive way you slam your mouth shut as a defence mechanism. I know - I have done it - twice.

Oh and he could of been hit in the body/shoulder and collapsed onto Beamers shoulder causing the chipped tooth. Just saying many ways for it to happen.

Am I right in saying we have had no upheld reports this year - even reprimands ?

I think that many a young boy thought of that song on every escalator.

It was crazy to even be given a free kick. It was a very good hip and shoulder. Beamer didn't even have all that much momentum - he's simply huge and Nason's small.

McLaren has is a bit out of it these days. Just because they are trying to cut down on the bad bumping and fair enough but it's wrong to penalise a player who does it well and doesn't hit the head.

If Nason wasn't wearing a mouth guard then it was his own fault. If he was then it was just bad luck. I can lend him Beau Waters' mouth guard if he'd like?
