Well when we drafted these 3 players they where all said to be the Next Scotty Burns but I was wondering which one do you think fits the Mould best for that postion.

Here are my Best:

  1. McCarthy - I reckon he is the best because he is big and strong and does not worry to go through people in contested area and also he has a Fantastic Kicking and Can hit a Target from a Long way away just remember in his 1st game where he got the ball in the middle then pumped the ball down in to the 50 to hit Dawes on the Chest
  2. Beams - Looked really good so far, Put's his head over the ball, Good long Kick with Both side of his body and Elite Hands and Hanballing and a Good Shot on Goal
  3. Stanley - Been dominating VFL for just over a season now but does not play there in the AFL. Would like to see him have a go in the Middle in the AFL to see if he can make it because if he does not could be good-bye to stanley. His Biggest problem those according to the club is his Disposal is not Good Enough

Who do rate them?

Almost impossible to answer this. In the end, I've gone for Beams - terrific debut and could be anything long-term. I'd definitely have Stanley in my side ATM though - ahead of both Toovey and Dick. (Yes, I know Dick's a forward but easy enough for one of our many small forwards/mids to spend more time down forward. Also, Stanley is kicking goals in the twos - in both senses of the phrase!)

I like JMac, be good to see if he's progressed from last year, what was his injury again??

I went for Beams, but only on potential.

As for JMac, he had an infection in his knee when he came back from Arizona before Xmas, but saw him at pre training on Friday, and he looked good.

I'd be surprised if JMac didnt play VFL this weekend.

What are we comparing them on. Who has most to work with i.e the most complete skill set. Who is the most ready to play an inside role now? who has the most complete skills to win the ball and play the role of "inside ball winner" ?

If your going on who has the most complete skill set I would go J Mac at this stage. Beams has a slightly higher hurt factor in that his vision is brilliant and often finds targets that I am not sure many others would have seen. So on that Beams probably has the most "upside" and Stanley is a friggen bull and hence is physically the most ready to be in and under packs winning the ball out.

I'd have to say Beams because he has the number on his back :thumbsu:

I only got to see the second quarter on the weekend but all reports were he was very good. I saw one bit of play in the second where he got the ball in the centre and fired off a massive handball that , on TV, looked to be completely missing the target but found a teammate just off screen. May have been the 10 cameraman's fault but it made it look pretty impressive.

Sad to say this but I reckon Beams and McCarthy have probably gone past Stanley. I'm thinking only an injury to O'Bree is going to see Stanley get a sustained run at it from now on.

I have voted for "The DS Express" Stanley needs to be given the opportunity to play at a higher level in a position that suits his in and under forward running style. Needs to be shown that the club has confidence in him and willing to back his style of football. Personally i think he is to unselfish with his brand of football and is always bringing others into the play and thus making them look good.
Give "DS Express" a real go!!!!!!!

beams
is a gun
stanley is yet to p
rove himself in the big time
mccarthy will be a midfield gun..
nd lil' LEIGH is the next damian monkhorst

Only seeing Beams a couple of times its hard to say how good he is going to be but from what I've seen he looks the goods. McCarthy had a good end to the year last year and once he is fit again he will be back in the side. Stanley has been there for a few years now and OK he plays well in the VFL but if he was going to take the next step he would be knocking the door down. I never hear how he dominates down there as a AFL player would. If he is good enough he would be one of the best players in the VFL comp and best everyweek so far i haven't seen it. I dont think there is a spot for him in our side and the same goes for Cook.

I think thats why they wanted to delay playing him straight away,,

Once he played his first game, dropping him from the side was just not an option.

This is such a tough call, Stanley is too hard to pick. We havent seen much from him at AFL level but we know he dominates the VFL week in week out and gives his all. Exactly what Scott Burns did from day one in his career. I really hope he gets chances this year in the ones and can really make his mark. He has great potential, but i can't see him getting another contract come years end if he doesn't move from the twos.
If his time ends at Collingwood i can see his career blossoming elsewhere, given great oppurtiunities and then our club will be kicking themselves.

McCarthy and Beams are on the same wavelength. It's so hard to choose. I think Beamsy gets more of the ball and with a good season under his belt will be up there with the likes of Joel Selwood. McCarthy i think can play outside the midfield as shown in the vfl a couple weeks back when he played mainly at FF and was in the best.

I think im going to have to say Beamsy, only because i can't see Stanley getting chances and McCarthy will be useful elsewhere..

Beams, McCarthy and Stanley in that order.

The vote so far seems to be well in favour of Beams and that is fair to me because he has really taken it by the short and curlys in his few appearances for the Black and White. His handballs are exceptional and the fact that he has impacted the scoreline directly is gold. His composure just looks exceptional, not to mention his professional approach to the game.

J-Mac similarly has rarely disappointed on appearance. Fantastic kicking, evasion and decision making.

Stanley, chug chug - a battler who I hope comes good and proves the boosters right. Keep on truckin'.
