I scored 74 beeps down Chapel Street in my souped up 1992 Commodore with the tinted windows between the Jam Factory and the Ten building at all the teenage girls. Who completely ignored me.

the draft camp is an assessment of the athletic ability of young footballers who gained their selection through playing good footy. The scouts and asessors already know these kids can play footy, the camp is merely an insight for all clubs into their athletic prowess and can also be used to interview players to gain insight into their dedication and application to their goals. There is no better measure of a person's physical and mental endurnace by pitting them into a competitive enviorment in which they must perform at and/or above their best to keep their dream alive. They can kick a ball and take a mark or they wouldn't be there.

He probably can't mark, kick or handball, but that's not important these days.

Then he'll be right at home at Collingwood. None of them can mark, kick or handball either. Or run fast for that matter.

If Matt Rigio is not taken in this years draft than scouters really need a boot.
He has pace, balance and a booming kick either side.
He is a state representative for the high Jump so his spring cannot be questioned, already has a mans body and I couldn't believe he did not play in the WA side this year at the Under 18's, he is Gold.
A true player of the future.

On the question of the AFL record, I think Jose Romero holds it. It's something around the mid-high 17 mark I think, Spriggs wasn't far off in the 04 pre-season I think.

Jarrad Mcveigh and david spriggs arent exactly getting a lot of game time. Its definitely not all about the fitness.

In an attempt to put these marks into context with a runner of some sorts - we had a state cross-country runner at our school who got (IIRC) about 18.5 in the beep test when he was in year 12.

Does anyone here know truthfully for a fact what number the beep test stops at.
Urban legend has it that the beep test is infinite and can continue for an eternity.

Level 21.16

Same here, and I was 42 at the time (almost 3 years ago). Yeah, most of these dudes aren't that great at the beep test, but will get better as they get older, with more power in their legs and more explosiveness.

I think leg POWER helps in something like the shuttle run, as you need to push off and get the acceleration over the first 5 metres as the intervals between beeps become shorter.

Most of the young kids, whilst fit, have relatively thin legs as they haven't yet matured.

They didn't do too well in the Beep Test. I scored 12.0 earlier this year straight after doing a 50 minute run
