JAMES BEGLEY
ADELAIDE FOOTBALL CLUB
The Adelaide Football Club wishes to advise that James Begley has decided to retire
from AFL football.
James, in discussions with Senior Coach Neil Craig, explained that due to injuries he
believes he will struggle to maintain the program required at that level.
James was recruited to Adelaide from St Kilda in season 2003 and after playing 36
games with St Kilda, added another 25 with the Adelaide Football Club for a total of
61 games.
James has been a strong contributor to the Club and we wish him all the best in the
future.

james begley has quit all football due to injuries....
Bad luck to James, a nice kid who had a terrible run. Can't help feeling that this was the best outcome for him and the club anyway. We get on with building the team and he can get on with his life without the frustration oif constant injury and career speculation. Good luck James, I reckon there'll be a few media outlets looking for the Cleo Bachelor runner up and he did OK with his stint at Ch 9. By the way Fred, how's the former Mrs.Cornes tracking? Those sons of hers need a good talking to.

Before the season I actually expected a big year from Beggers. Unfortunately it didn't work out.

Good luck James, had the talent but lacked the body to use it.

All the best for the future! :)

Smith & Schuback for starters.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were the last two to be delisted.

Krueger the only other one I would consider getting rid of but I think the AFC will keep him. Too much talent to waste.

I reckon they will keep Krueger until we find out what we pick up in trade period for Watts.

Sounds fair enough to me. I'll bow to your superior knowledge on subjects relating to the club. Being such a "New Crows Fan" (as the name suggests), I still have soooooooooooooooooooooo much to learn, and what better place to start than here, with other fans of the club. :thumbsu:

Surely Josh Kreuger won't be retained?? I understand he is a great kid, but he has just had too many injuries.
James Begley seems to have been more interested in the social scene than our footy club. Mind you he never let us down when he played.

Byron's bump may have been the last straw.

You get to apoint in footie when one more bump or injury can mean the desire to play begins to fade. At this level this means a quick exit from the game.

Good luck Beggars - it seems to me watching your body language this year after the bump, that you made the right decision to retire.

Stevens, Ladhams, Begley - and of course watts (as i predicted much earlier in the year)are now all GONE. I said up to 7 changes a few weeks ago - with Smith, Schuback, Massie etc still to come this is likely to happen.

Iam really disheartened by the news of Begleys retirement. IMO a player with real talent and an ideal mould of what Craig is looking for.

People this is really bad news and a sad day :(

Before the start of the year I had him on my half back flank - he had pace, height and a long kick and he could run the lines.

But he lost one thing we cannot afford to lose in this great game - enthusiasm for the challenge.

He knew his time had come!!! It happened to me WW. I am sure you may have felt it too when you retired from playing football or some other sport you loved.
