Otis a very very good signing for Queenscliff. Will bring a direction and long term plan for the club moving forward.
Oh yeah!! Just saw the news this morning. Another prodigal comes home - great get, best coaching appointment since the legendary Johnny Farrell ( Apologies to Jammo who started the revival of this great club, and Tommy who continued the threepeat ) Welcome home Otis. Just further proof you can take the boy out of Queenscliff, but never Queenscliff out of the boy. Roll on 2018 and a Barracouta revival...

Positives? Negatives?
Positive:
AFL Hartman have finally caught up with the rest of the world.
Negative:
All the young players lost to footy because there was no Under 19 footy (what fool came up with Under 18.5) , and they weren't ready for senior footy.

Blame the GDFL for the 18.5 rule, only way they would allow their teams join the Comp - AFL Barwon wanted it to stay 18's or move to u19's

It's a good move all the way along (u15's, u17's, u19's) there was 15 yo kids playing against 19yo men the last few years, which isn't good for the majority of the younger kids!

First thing he should do is de-list the two ex playing coaches.
Second thing should be to round up a few other prodigal sons and get them back to the Fishbowl. Caleb Mason, Eddie Grout, Sammy Wayth, just a few names that come to mind..I'd be hovering like a vulture round Brisbane too, just in case Dizzy gets delisted.

Good post.
I still blame AFL Hartman.
Time for him to move on. Who elects this AFL Hartman board anyway?
Time for a change....

Do not rate them as players that's all. Word was that the Queenscliff players didn't rate them as coaches either.

They liked Hodgy, didn't like Jono.
To young and inexperienced for their first time ever coaching. Senior level footy is probably not the place to start.

Interesting seeing Carey join Ocean Grove. As a club they would want to be very very careful going forward, it could be Newcomb all over again. Look after your kids or somebody else will. Just seems like short term vision to me. Thoughts?

It's Ocean Grove.
So no-one cares....

I get your point. Preaching to the choir here but nobody wants to see any club become what Newcomb have. It may not make any difference going forward with the new system but for the time being, its not healthy for anyone.

I hope they go worse than Newcomb ever did.

Surely someone has heard rumours about certain players changing clubs?!

Also, how is the Junior football shake-up going to affect clubs?

It'll have a massive effect on Portarlington. Their 16's become 17's and their 18's become 19's. Oh, hold on......
Well actually it will effect Portarlington adversely and if you were a true football fan you wouldn't be rejoicing in that.

Port has been working hard to get up 16's for 2018 and had quite a few top age kids from the 14's who could have gone up as well as some kids who were willing to come back to the club. That has now been scuttled and they all stay 15's. It's good for 14's as they get get to stay together for another season but 2019 looks more likely now for Port.

Anyway, no point complaining. Just roll up the sleeves and keep on trying. When you don't have the numbers in your town that's all you can do.

It wasn't that long ago that Port was propping up Queenscliff's juniors.....
But thanks for that insightful, and spiteful post.
About par for the course for you.
Cheers......

Portarlington better hope Jesse Smith is "the man" for the next 4-5 years until the juniors can start playing senior football, otherwise things may be dire

He needs to hold onto every players possible from the last few years, because recruiting is only going to get harder, especially if the promotion/relegation is implemented as discussed

Well come on then oh insightful one, give us your thoughts to how the changes will effect your club. Share your plans. Tell us something meaningful instead of deflecting away from the ugly truth. We await with interest.

Read Go Richo 12's post.
That's how we'll do it.
We stick together at Port.....

Don't remember us helping out the Coutas?
No you wouldn't, you'd be one of those blokes who gets pissed and bags everyone, even ur own team (if you even have one).

But you can just keep potting us, if that's what gets you off. That's the type of bloke your are.

Cheers.....

So it's not ok to pot your club but it is ok for you to pot Coutas, Grubbers,Ammos, Torquay, Drysdale, Leopold, Corio etc etc. Sad, spiteful and bitter. That's the type of bloke you are. Have a nice day though!
