Went to the game today.

For a cold and partially wet day it was quite a good crowd.

Dyson, Peverill, Michael, Atkinson, Bellchambers were the best Essendon listed players by far.

Bellchambers mark was absolutely massive.

Was just getting my fone out get video footage of the game close up and i just missed out on the mark. Was spewin lol.

Pears looked like he had a rib injury.

Most Senior players were there. Didn't see Lloyd,Neagle,Slattery, Fletcher but basically saw the rest.

Paddy Ryder wearing hoodie with long shorts and long socks looked like one of those punk skaters lol.

But nah was a good day and good effort by the Bendigo boys.

Anyone else at the game today and watching the bloke doing the scoreboard. it was hilarious watching an old bloke not knowing what he was doing.

Suprised Hooker didn't make the bests, he seemed fairly prominent.

A big Thumbs Down  To Ricky Dysons Father who verbally threatened a few of us members in th Hi Mark bar who dared to have a constructive criticism of his son. Mind you, had he heard everything we said, he would have realised we discussed the pros and cons of several players, including Ricky.

So, F U Mr Dyson, for coming in late on a conversation and being an over defensive/sensitive w***er. I respect that you had heard others rubbishing your son earlier, but don;t take it out on members who are fairly discussing players.

What did his dad say?

Went to the game today.....

Mal - Solid all day. Went forward a few times and kicked a goal. Pretty much dominates at VFL level.

Pears - Was good early, then suffered an injury.

Bellchambers - Ruck pretty well and was good around the ground. Took a hanger in the third qrt. Is improving everytime he plays. :thumbsu:

CJ - Played down back for the entire game. Pretty much controlled the back half for periods of play, which allowed Mal to go forward. Having said when he was one out with space in front of him and his opponent, he got done a few times.

Dyson - I thought he was pretty average. Made some good decisions and his disposal was also good. I was surprised he got mentioned in the best. I'll be interested to see what his stats were....

Chartres - The usual honest game for Danny and as always battled away. Kicked a nice goal around the body. What you see is what you get. An honest, 4 qrt contributor, who you know will always have a dip. :thumbsu:

Williams - Still very very raw. Had some good moments, taking a few strong over head marks. Still along way off from AFL level.

Pev - Solid contributor all day. Got plenty of the ball and was good around the stoppages.

Hooker - His last 3 weeks have been bloody good and has kept on improving in leaps and bounds. Again he took some strong grabs and converted well. Moves very well and get's to the 'right' spot. Marked outside 50 near the boundary and handballed inside to release Atkinson who ran 45m around the boundary and goaled. Seems to always make the right choice. I think we will see him in the seniors sooner rather then later if he can hold his form. :thumbsu:

Atkinson - Was good all day and provided plenty of run and carry. His disposal today was good, often hit the target. Was instrumental when Bendigo was surging in the last qrt. Went missing in the 2nd half of the last qrt. Still a quality game. As mentioned kicked a great running goal.

Magin - Not a bad game. Certainly didn't dominate nor have an influence. Just serviceable.

Dick - F..k this guy frustrates the living hell out of me. Has the body and the skill to make AFL, but lacks intensity on the man and just seems to 'cruise' most of the time. Took 2 strong contested marks and converted twice from outside 50. Goes missing to often for large chunks of the game. Going to be interesting to see what happen's at season's end.

What did his dad say?

It was wierd. We were discussing players as members do, and one of the blikes said, Why did we give Dyson a 2 year contract? Fair Question. A couple of us basically said, don't know, but he is around now, so hopefully he improves/pulls his socks up or it will be a waste of a contract etc. Nothing too derogitive. Next thing, this guy in front of us, pushes through and mutters something. Thought nothing of it, till he came back with a drink, and he looked at us and said. "I'm Ricky Dysons Father and I'm gunna join in on this conversation. So have any of you spricks got anything to say about him now?" Man, If looks could kill. He then stood right in front of us wiith his back to us, big conversation killer.
Another guy with him said after he walked away, he had had a gutful of people bagging his son there today. No excuse, especially when we were discussing him and others reasonably.

Ricky's dad should've just bit his tongue. You pay to get in, as far as I'm concerned you can say whatever you want (Within reason).

Imagine if he read the comments on BigFooty about Ricky. Yikes.

LOL, yeah. I could even understand it if we were rubbishing Ricky badly, or all day. But he was the fifth person in about a fifteen minute discussion that we discussed. Looks like Daddy Dyson can't handle the pressure either. I wonder if he arcs up at every senior game Ricky plays, cos I hear a hell of a lot worse eing said constantly. Dad should stay home I think.

Maybe dad passed his bad decision making onto his son. ;)

If you dish it out then you should be able to cop it as well. Pretty poor form to come running on to a forum having a bitch about it. He had the balls to front up to you (and a few others by the sounds of it). I think you should respect him for that.

I would imagine it would be very hurtful to hear disparaging comments made about your own son, especially from people who are supposed to be his supporters.

Did you ask him how Ricky was after his operation, how his training was going etc or was that too difficult ?

No, it's poor form of him to have a go at the people who were discussing his son in a reasonable manor, and not at the ones who were "dishing it out". We discussed a number of fringe players, that is what members do when they get together. He did not need to approach in the manner he did. He was the one out of line. That I mention it on here is not poor form, it is an issue that came up at the game. Are we expected now to go to the footy and not even mention a player for fear of maybe a relative or friend taking something the wrong way, I think not. There was nothing to respect about the way he imposed himself, especially when some in the group, including myself, had said they would not write him (Ricky) off yet.
