Look around, it happening everywhere. When you're a bendigo club why are you flying in players, bendigo has plenty of jobs affordable housing a uni, its a growing city, I can understand if youre a shepp club or outer country league, but how sustainable is this for bfl town clubs to do?
Bendigo is a lot bigger than those places thoughLook around, it happening everywhere.
Central Murray are getting a heap from Darwin / Qld with a morning flight from Moorabbin every Saturday morning.
It’s not sustainable for anyone but yet here we are.
Stevens has signed with North Heidelberg!I'm very keen to see the BFNL this year should be exciting!
I'm not sure about any of the departures. I haven't seen Stevens resigning on any socials yet which if he has gone that would be a huge loss. Stevens was with North Melbourne VFL not sure what he's doing VFL wise 2026 that might be holding up an alignment club or something.
Other name missing from socials is Moorhead. I have no confirmation of those though.
Big loss for Strath one of their starsStevens has signed with North Heidelberg!
The money offered in Queensland is very minimal hence why it’s enticing to come to Vic. Not sure there’s the same level of interest from SANFL players to come to central VictoriaI reckon its cheaper to get sanfl guys, cheaper flights better standard, looks like the bfl and surrounds are going after qafl players though
They are all heading to the Sunraysia league on huge money mate. The money offered in Queensland is very minimal hence why it’s enticing to come to Vic. Not sure there’s the same level of interest from SANFL players to come to central Victoria
And the Wimmera league and a couple at lalbertThey are all heading to the Sunraysia league on huge money mate.
A few filtering into the Ballarat league, albeit a few heading back there after SANFL stints. They are all heading to the Sunraysia league on huge money mate.
Sunraysia league is a lot closer to Adelaide than Bendigo. They are all heading to the Sunraysia league on huge money mate.
Adelaide is a lot closer than Noosa tooSunraysia league is a lot closer to Adelaide than Bendigo.
Players up in QLD are on very little match payments. A bloke who would have been on close to a $1000 the GV was lucky to get $200 up there playing in the QAFL.Adelaide is a lot closer than Noosa too
Sandhurst doesn't need to recruit. People want to play for Sandhurst. Imagine how many flags Sandhurst would have if they didn't lose players to the afl system they have been so good at nurturing over many many years.Sandhurst have never been great at recruiting . If they were they would have won many more premierships
They need to recruit if they want to win premierships. These days talented young players don't make it to the seniors as they get swallowed by Coates Talent League system and all the plastic football that entails. Day-Wicks didn't play a senior game in his last year with the club. Under 18 flags seem great but very few of these players (as Kangaroo Flat would confirm) make it to senior Bendigo football.Sandhurst doesn't need to recruit. People want to play for Sandhurst. Im not talking about imagining and wondering Longbow. The facts are if you look at the recruiting they have done of A grade footballers - Kristan Height is a fine example - it makes you wonder why they dont do it more often.Sandhurst doesn't need to recruit. Now there is a guy that was too good for country footy. Michelson, Morris and Morrison Medallist.Im not talking about imagining and wondering Longbow. Who was the best of mcglone, archard, height and whyman, ringo, all at echuca at the same time ringo when they were 17 and 18Now there is a guy that was too good for country footy. Michelson, Morris and Morrison Medallist.
Height, would dominate through the midfield and then when resting, clear out the fwd 50 and he was almost unbeatable one on one. Archard a close second although a guy called Brad Murray could play a bit. Never had WhymanWho was the best of mcglone, archard, height and whyman, ringo, all at echuca at the same time ringo when they were 17 and 18
All St. Joes Echuca boys….star studded group!Who was the best of mcglone, archard, height and whyman, ringo, all at echuca at the same time ringo when they were 17 and 18
