Guys great game today im a tiger supporter as you probably know but i watched it and i was really impressed by the way that hudson rucked against a quality ruckman like everitt. He has a bit of angry in him which is good aswell and will be a good ruckman for 10 years plus.

He is a gem

I don't know about 10 years plus but he will be a very good ruckman for the next 5-7 years. He is 25 years old and has only played footy for 3 years. He has become a bit of a cult figure on this board. Everyone loves Huddo:D. He always has a real crack and is leading our club in hard ball gets average.

He is still a bit rough around the edges but he will develop nicely over th enext couple of years. If we get 100 games out of him, he would be a fantastic get with pick 58 in the draft.

Yeah we love him.
:D :D :D
Unfortunatly he will propberbly only be good for 5-7 years, but if he keeps improving at this rate he will be 1st ruck within a couple.

Hudson was excellent today against a quality ruckman in Spider Everitt.

Spider was killing Clarke earle, and to Ayres credit, he made the move before it was too late, and brought Huddo on. That was a match winning move, as he nullified Spider's influence and we got on top straight away.

One little move I picked up was at boundary throw-ins. There were times when we were in attack that Huddo never went up against Everitt, but blocked Everitt hitting the ball Hawthorn's way, giving him only the options of hitting it our way, or behind him into our attacking area. We scored a few goals from that.

I can't see Biglands forcing Hudson out of the team the way that Huddo is going.

I made a point of this on the other thread. Huddo has been coming along really well in the last few games. I don't see Ayres dropping Clarke and Huddo is keeping his spot.

The only way Biglands will come in is as a key defender and we seem pretty set with Kenny, Bassett and Hentschel. Biglands could find it hard to get back into the side.

Sorry i thoguht he was only a young kid like about 20.

But anyway you got a winner here.

What is the go with biglands? Havent seen him for ages.
He got suspended for 4 weeks when he KOed Polak at Subi. He then copped an injury at training and missed another couple. I think he played his first game today for the Eagles.

Huddo was excellent but I wish he would pull up his left (?) sock. It annoys me for some reason. I can't think of a quality ruckman who doesn't wear both socks pulled up.

Maybe it's one of his goodluck thing play with his left sock down, who knows and who really cares, he was terrific yesterday;)

Don't worry you're not the first to make that kind of mistake.

Some people believe that Michael Doughty and James Gallagher are fourteen-year-old prodigies...

Doughty is a good player. He will never be a topline midfielder, but he is very good. Not every member of a midfield can be a topliner. Look at Brisbane, even they have nobodies like Copeland and Notting running around in their midfield. Doughty is our version of that, and he is one of the better disposers of the ball in our team.

Good mark too.

True but he does have tendency to be inconsistent and shirk a contest or 2 on a regular basis.

If a 24 going on 25yo backup midfielder in his fifth season who is still battling to hold his place in a lineup that is currently 3-7 is "very good", then I'd love to see the superlatives you have reserved for the likes of Brett Burton and Brent Reilly.

If Brisbane offered us Notting for Doughty I'd take it in a heartbeat.*

(*That is actually NOTTING and not NOTHING - although...)

Doughty has been pretty much an automatic selection this season except when injured.

Notting is crap, he is made to look better than he is by the supreme success of the team, in a team like Carlton he'd be a joke.

I'm with dyertribe on this one. He's capable on his day, has good disposal, but can be soft at times - but very good he is not.

Doughty for Notting - I'd be happy with that.

There's a lot to like about Ben Hudson. Controlled aggression, enthusiasm and energy, the best hands of any ruckman we've got, and reasonable disposal skills. Plus, second efforts that are as good as anyone in the side, and a preparedness to put his body in to clear out a pathway for midfielders.

He tends to telegraph his taps a bit which is why his taps get picked off a fari bit by the opposition, but I imagine it takes a good few games to work out a strong rapport with the midfield.

I rate Tim Notting. An ex team-mate of his has told me how highly Notting is regarded at Brisbane and I have always watched him closely after hearing this. He is great overhead for his size (took a hanger against the Dees yesterday) and the same ex-team mate said his field kicking is 2nd to only Stuart Dew in the comp.

He is quality.

I'm just happy (& relieved) we have swapped for a new Ben to backup Clarke/Biglands this year! Huddo is already competitive in the ruck & he can only get better as he learns more about his trade, given he is still young in footy & rucking terms.

PS On the Notting v Doughty topic, I would take Notting as have always rated him.

That's the funniest concept I have ever read in as much, as, as if there is even a debate

Notting is three times the player Doughty is.

Hmmm, nearly as funny as (,as) you trying to put as sentence together Jars. :p

Notting has played many consistent games off a wing & can be very damaging game-breaker (just refer to the 2 goals he kicked in the earlier season game when he was being "manned up" by Ladhams). Dogga is a handy player, but not in the same class at Notting IMO. Couldn't be bothered going into any more detail.
