now substitute and for into and it should be right

I think both you and the 'Shag' should have been rested earlier this season.

It was an absolute disgrace that Bentick wasn't drafted. IIRC he was the premiership captain in the under 18s a couple of years back. I also don't get this talk about him being slow. He probably has the quickest hands at the club and has one of the better footy brains too.

He's nothing like Plunkett. He's got a lot more skill, he's younger, and he's on his first chance, not his second. I'm a lot more confident about Bentick than I am about Walker.....

He has worked with a sprint coach and changed his running style a little. That means he had to change his kicking action and he had trouble with it earlier in the year. So he was dropped and went back to the VFL and worked on it. Now kicking much better and a little quicker over the ground. Does not go out as he wants so badly to make it. Gives everything he has and just wants an opportunity. He has earnt it and done well.
If he does make himself into a good player then it will not be through a lack of effort.

What are peoples views on Walker????? Im a little concerned also funky.

Its really too early to tell...Given his size and speed he could develop into a 95- 100kg player who can smash through packs and take a mark. I remember when Kouta was his age I was scratcing my head over why he was getting a game. Give him time..he's only 19...wait until he's around 21-22 and see what he can do I reckon. I just don't think he's one of those earlier maturing, nuggety types like Cooney...we'll just have to be patient unfortunately!

Cooney, Sylvia, McLean and Griffen are all built for AFL straight away. Farren Ray, Walker are skinny athletes who will take longer. Throw Russell into that mix and compare him to Lewis who is AFL ready from game 1 but he is a finished product.

I think he'll be fine...............he has had a tough year, and been on a steep learning curve as Pagan has had him running with some of the better midfielders.

I think the sooner we settle him down into a position, the better he'll be. One thing that concerns me is a lot of our young players are moved around a lot early in their careers, and never allowed to settle into a role/position.
ie/ Sporn, Wiggins, Walker.

I'd like to see Walker on a wing next year for extended periods, and allowed to follow his instincts (free him up) to go get the ball. His decision making and skill can sometimes let him down, but I think that will come in due course.

Luckily Murphy and Hurn are ready made players. Not that I'm getting impatient or anything...

Hopefully Walker, Russell, Murphy and Hurn can all have an impact next year. That'll be a sight.
