Boo yah.

I honestly think it's too hard to say, because the big US companies' ability to project blanket publicity around the world effectively removes any exposure to artists from other countries. This makes it pretty hard to make an effective global judgment of each scene.

I'd say it'd be far harder for a British MC to get international exposure than a British rock band. Apart from Lady Sovereign I probably couldn't name 10 Hip Hop acts that aren't from here or the states.

Sad I know.;)

Yeah, I'd agree with that.

Would be interesting if the British came up agaisnt Australia.

Would be some good viewing.

I am not much of an aficionado of hip hop but what little I do know stems from the use of rap/hip hop style vocals in some English bands like say Massive Attack or Faithless. I have also heard the Pitman, a Newcastle England rapper on the radio and find his lyrics rather witty. My Australian listening is say the more commercially successful groups like The herd, Butterfingers or the Hilltop Hoods. I find the styles so far removed that there is not much of a comparison.

Yeah, you're so right.

Oh, and btw, wtf are you talking about??????? All that sh*t-hop 'music' has befuddled you.....

Maybe Ayn Rand Sheeete has befuddled you Roddy;). I am not into insults as to what people should and should not be listening to. For example The Herd are more than relavant to me than Rush and no doubt vica versa. I get a bit stunned at the lack of tolerance to others likes and dislikes on this board. Live and let live. it would be a sad world if all music was the same.

CrazyQ you made a mistake replying to Roddy's troll. I asked him to explain his original post and he has failed. By his lack of reply all he proved in the end is that he is limited in his musical likes and dislikes as he failed to answer and hurled insults back at your insult. Discuss your subject as I think it is interesting.

the carribean even though its reggation it competes bloody well against hip hop. another place id say is western europe especially france where influences from western africa integreate with musicians and styles of hip hop.
