It occurred to me when looking over our list that is returning to play Brisbane, that it might be a problem to have to drop someone to make way for Parker. There are simply too many good players at the moment (what a problem!). Bird was stiff to get vested last week, although it was fair to give Drejs more time to keep his match fitness up. So who would be most likely to make way for Parker if there were no more injuries? And who deserves the vest? Don't include Rohan.

I think at the moment Pyke, Everitt, LRT & Armstrong are the fringe players. As for who would go out for Parker is another question. Probably Everitt.

Armstrong for Parker for mine.

LRT, Pyke, Armstrong & Everitt are the logical ones to change.

The ruck is going fine and both Mummy and Pyke rotate well into the forward line and are accurate kicks for goal - especially Mummy. When either he or TDl have a set shot inside 50 I am very confident of a goal.

LRT up forward works well. I really don't subscribe to the "dysfunctional" forward line theory. Is it great? No. But it is adequate. We are sixth in scoring so they must be doing something right even if it is just clearing space for the mids. So LRT stays for mine.

I just think Everitt supplies some more interesting options than Armstong. Close pick though.

Bottom line is simple - Parker is clearly best 18. Room has to be made and this is what you want in a side - selection issues caused because of excess talent.

I agree that Armstrong is one of the last ones picked at this point, he has alot of upside but isn't quite solid atm. Everitts been playing well but isnt a lock either, and lrt is expendable for the right replacement as well imo.

Looking forward to parker coming back, he's definitepy in our best.

I just think our forward line requires extra attention, either tdl, spangher (or both) will really improve us as a side, or at least have the potential to improve us above and beyond including someone like Armstrong or lrt in the side. That's my 2c

Armstrong has done well and is "taking" Mals spot, and LRT can do a few things. The Pyke/Mummy combo is working. That leaves Everitt and possibly Bird for Parker,ho is in out best 22 i rekon. I love this, who to leave in who to drop.

Any way you cut it, Parker is an in when fit, no matter who gets left out, they'll be unlucky. I think it will come from the 3 rucks, depending on who we play. WC will be the tester, with their very mobile NicNat, none of our prospective rucks matches up well on him and it may be left to someone like JPK to stand goalside at stoppages to stop him running

Heading closer and closer towards finals, I see the following 16 players who were in the side on Saturday as untouchable (in terms of being definite best 22 players) at this stage:

B: Smith Richards Johnson
HB: Shaw Grundy
C: Hannebery Jack Jetta
HF: ROK Reid
F: McGlynn Goodes
R: Mumford Kennedy McVeigh

Parker and Mattner are also untouchable in my eyes when in the seniors so add them in. Then the last 5 spots belong to 5 of Bird, Pyke, LRT, Everitt, Malceski, Armstrong. The likes of Spangher and Cunningham could push their way into contention if a few more injuries strike, but I think Longmire would be quite content with the group of 23 I have listed above as it stands.

On the last 5 spots, Pyke has been playing too well recently (as a ruckman and forward) to be dropped, so he makes it in. Bird is needed for tagging and inside grunt, so he gets a spot. LRT's versatility and attack at the ball and man are too much for me to give up, so he makes the 22.

So it's down to 3. Everitt gives us something that the other 2 do not, so I'd be tempted to have him in for now. Mal was brilliant on Saturday and his delivery to Reid was impeccable a number of times. But there is something about Armstrong's pace and line-breaking ability that has me leaning towards him...very close decision...I'll go with Armstrong by a whisker at this stage.
