Best Ball Users

With all the talk about our kicking and disposal efficiency I thought It would be worth discussing who are our best ball users at the club by hand/foot or just in general. For kicking I would probably go:

1. Hurn
2. Le Cras
3. Kerr
4. Butler
5. Shuey/Stevenson

At least I probably feel most confident when these players have the ball.

at the other end of the spectrum probably McKenzie, Selwood's rate towards our worst.

The 2010 Embley is certainly a shadow of his form of the glory years! Shuey looks particularly accomplished on his left foot for a natural right footer.

I can imagine if a new coach walked in tommorrow... he would probably make that list our first string midfield. No doubt they would've smashed both midfields on display in the derby too.

Kerr is our best handballer, as far as kicking is concerned I wouldn't have him in our top 3 established players. His long range passing lets him down a bit IMO.

I always see the DE rates and think "that can't be right". I don't take much notice of stats. Often misleading.

I had Gibbs in there originally but took him out because I'm not sure if he's a better kick than Hurn. Whole package of kick + ball user, definitiely, but just kick, not sure.

In terms of vision and creativity Kerr is one of the best in the AFL. Naita's handballing visions and creativity is dare I say it pretty much elite. It's very very underrated.

Agree re Kerr. His creative disposal, be it by hand or foot, where he weaves through traffic and takes a 3rd or 4th option (which he has often created himself in that play) is great to watch.

Thats all true, he weights passes so well and is able to think quickly, unlike so many of our mids and defenders out there at the moment.

I think thats the major problem with a lot of our players. It's not that they can't dispose of the ball, they just lack the instinct to spot the right option under pressure and instead offload to their easiest/closest option (often a stationery target ).

Best Kicks: Hurn, Kerr, Butler, LeCras, Houlihan, Shuey, Stevenson, Hams and Kennedy.(Sheppard, Smith and Stevens are also very good as well)

Hand: NicNat, Masten, Glass, Mckinley(suprisingly), Schofield, Ebert and Shuey.

I rate Schofields kicking pretty high. Strijk should also be on the list.
