Hi gang,

What are some of the best basketball books/autobiographies that you can reccommend? In particular ones written by Michael Jordan or Phil Jackson, but if you have any others that you feel are worth reading please mention them as well.

Cheers, D2T.

ive got the hard cover, big fkin book detailing jordans career (i think its for the love of the game).

more than a game - charlie rosen

another another hard cover big un.....its like an encyclopedia, photos of heaps of hall of famers (and others) on front and back.....cant remember the name

"The Jordan rules" by Sam Smith is quite good. Most of the MJ books i have read are the same stuff but the best book on Jordan i have ever come across is this one.

"Sacred Hoops: Spiritual Lessons of a Hardwood Warrior"" by Phil Jackson

"Magic Johnson: My Life"

"Bad as i wanna be" Dennis Rodman

"The Andrew Gaze Story: A Kid, a Ball, a Dream" Andrew Gaze (Bernard Grantley).
"Marvellous" Brett Maher (Boti Nagy)

"Running with the Bulls" Luc Longley championshop season with Chicago

I've just finished reading "Top of the World" which chronicles the Celtics journey from the weeks leading up to the draft and the Ray Allen trade to end of the Lakers finals series. Was amazing, took a look at absolutely everything, working out the big trades, trying to sign blokes like Reggie Miller etc.

Just about to start the 'Zo autobiography.

Was that the one Peter May wrote? I picked it up, havent had a chance to read yet.

I found seven seconds or less the other week, picked it up. Havent had a chance to read that either.

Most recently Seven Seconds or Less by Jack McCallum is pretty good.

Just about to start reading The Last Shot: City Streets, Basketball Dreams by Darcy Frey which is supposed to be really good.

If you live in Melbourne, pay a visit to Melbourne Sports Books, between the MCG and Flinders Street station. Heaps of books from all Sports. Yes it's the Peter May one, it was either $40 or $50 I can't remember. I recommend it to all.

I got it for $35 with free delivery from that website mdc linked if anyone else is looking for it.

Yeah that's where I got it from. He's a ripper bloke aswell.

I concur with Seven Seconds or Less by Jack McCullum.

Re: the 05/06 Suns . Cant be topped.

Yeh Santo is a great bloke, loves a chat too.

I havn't read it, so can anyone tell me what Pat Riley's book is about? It's not autobiographical is it? ie, the championship match from the Glory Road movie? My assumption was it was more steps to success or some inner strength or something along those lines.

Fwiw I tossed up between the Suns book and the Celtics book while I was in the shop and went with a screaming KG on the cover, might have to go back and grab that Suns one after the good reviews.

'Top of the World' arrived in the mail today, which is pretty good going for free postal service if you ask me. I've read the first 3 chapters (Lottery, Ray Allen, KG) and really enjoying it so far - only problem is I am meant to be reading uni texts, but this is far more interesting...

I recently read "Tip-Off: How the 1984 NBA Draft Changed Basketball Forever". Was a pretty good read. Got it from Amazon.

Barkley's 2 books are pretty cool, probably the first one more so than the second.
