I'm talking about in-game dunks, not the ones from the dunk comp.

For me, MJ, 1992, first game of the season, against the 76ers, jumps (pn the side just outside the box) over the top of Nick Anderson for the dunk. If you have seen the video MJ Air time you'll know what I'm talking about.

Tom Chambers hanger over some pleb.

Cortez Groves' left-hand alley-oop dunk.

Don`t know about best, but I like the MJ one where he`s going baseline and is cut off. He`s turns away from the basket like he`s given up on the play. Sundenly he turns baseline again and in a flash is past the defender for the dunk.

Yep, I have the picture. That would be OVER some 7'0" French dude.

Also one I remember is Jordan, doubling back along the baseline, beating his opponent with a spin and dunking over the top of Ewing.

John Starks had a memorable one for New York

v.carter soaring leapfroggin' dunk over the standing 7' frenchman frederic weiss..
jordan's baseline spin and dunk (elbow above rim) over ewing..
t.chambers ridiculous double handed hanger over mark jackson..
dr.j's fast-break... scoop up-to-the-chest and windmill dunk over michael cooper..

Yep all sensational dunks.
Another is KJ when he was playing against the Knicks, he sliced down the middle of the keyway and met some tall timber, but decided to take them on anyway - he ended up throwing a hammer on Charles Oakley?? (I think) and hung on to the ring with his legs wrapped around Oakley's shoulders. Ahh...Kevin Johnson at his prime a delight to watch!

Yeah, I remember that one Sherm. A sensational dunk. Agreed, KJ was a delight to watch.

Triggered me to think of Spud Webb. Wish I had a leap like him.

That was a HOOOOOOOOJ dunk, especially watching it live. It was like watching an explosion - BOOM!

One of my all time favourite dunks. Starks is guarding him and he takes him baseline...the double comes and Jordan backs out looking defeated...suddenly he spins back baseline blows by two defenders and finishes all over Ewing. Just an awesome dunk.

Another one of my favourites and you will know the one if you own Jordan's Playground and have watched it a million times like me....Is the one that Timmy Hardaway narrates. Jordan on a breakaway with only Barkley back on D. Sir Charles is about to jump but MJ is already in the air....a soaring dunk. Just so impressive...especially the way Timmy Hardaway narrates it :D

T-Mac to himself off the window in the All Star was as good as you will see also.

Oh and another off Jordan's Playground. Pippen at the line...goes hard off the iron and Jordan comes running in from behind the three point line (he isnt one of the rebounders in the key if you know what i mean...he doesnt actually jump from the 3pt line :D) and just fly's over the top for an awesome putback. Almost looked rehearsed the way Jordan knew exactly where to be off Scotties miss.

OH MAN!!! I got 2 rippers...

1 ) Cast your mind back to Michael Jordans first retirement, when Scottie Pippen was still with the Bulls.
I think it was the year after and Scottie was making his statement you know coming out of Michaels shadow and going through his hard-ass phase. Remember his red shoes at the all-star game and spanked up shaved head?

Anyways, the dunk was against the Knicks in the playoffs and Scottie took off on the fast break i think it was 2 on 2 down the floor. Scottie got the ball on an angle to the basket about free throw line extended. He took off one-handed and i remember the commentator say something like: "he shifted gears in motion" and dunked on Ewing and Mason. It was sick because as he dunked it he pushed Ewing to the floor and sort of fell on him.

2) Shawn Kemp playing for Seattle I think it was the same year... he grabbed a board and went coast to coast got to the foul line and sorta did this skip stop, but almost took off from the foul line, one-handed jam... blatant travel, but its the NBA and showtime comes first!

Pau Gasol did that in last years rookie game.

Although he went under the basket and dunked it on the other side.

Amazing for a 7 footer.

James Worthy's second dunk on Micheal Jordan at the Forum in 1988. Put Jordan in his place. On the floor.

I think I remember that one...

Sensational stuff...

Jefferson this year is bound to have a few candidates for dunk of the year

sorry for bein so non-specific, but that new import dude for Wollongong did a mamoth one-handed, alley-oop dunk against Adelaide at the Powerhouse! It was awesome, as everyone at the stadium thought it was going well over the baseline, he just got there and stuffed it!

i liked the t-mac one... made the defenders look like tools.... tho, wasnt as surprising as he's done it before in a regular season game.... very arsey....

What about KJ against Olajuwan in the 1994 CF(?). Awesome.

Pfft...not nearly as explosive or as impressive. Gasol is 7 foot though which is impressive for his size...but MJ is 6'6 and dunked it over 7 foot Ewing. One of the best dunks ive ever seen.

Speaking of Richard Jefferson...just saw him at Number 2 on the Top 10 countdown on NBA Action on ESPN. Awesome baseline drive goes right over the top of a 7 footer and literally throws it down...as in he doesnt actually dunk...very close but the 7 footer is too big to get right over the top so he just sort of throws it through the hoop. Pretty impressive.
