Since there's a forward line one, lets go to the other end of the ground.
Criteria is u/24 backmen.

Explain your choice by compiling a back 6 of u/24 backmen.

I vote for Richmond.

FB: Raines Thursfield McGuane
HB: Meyer Rance Moore

FB: Anthony/Toovey Brown H.Shaw
HB: Clarke O'Brien Goldsack

Just because i'm biased.

Anthony will play forward IMO.

HB: Clarke O'Brien H.Shaw
FB: Goldsack Brown Toovey

Toovey is actually a very good stopper, he is just bad when he gets the ball. All of those players are 21 or under, except Heath who is 22. Harry is/will be one of the best stoppers in the game, and is a very effective rebounder. Clarke and Heath are both fantastic rebounders, and Brown is probably the best young full back in the league. Goldsack is great for the third tall and provides some run.

I vote Collingwood. :)

Stop putting Toovey in our backline. It looks disgusting.

Goldsack - Brown - Maxwell
H Shaw - O'Brien - Anthony

Brisbane's in my eyes would be

B: Begley - Merrett - Roe
HB: MacDonald - Tyler - Patfull

I personally see Tyler as our future CHB, big call considering he hasn't played a game of senior footy. Could always move Patfull to CHB, and play another half back flanker (ie. Hanley).

That backline is pretty close to what we rely on now, except Drummond slots in there (who just misses out on this, being 25)

Toovey at this stage is in our best 'emerging' backline... it doesn't mean he will still be there in 2yrs time.

Why would you move Anthony from the forward line? This is his first season ever being tried as a forward and he has done a more than adequate job.

Aren't Raines and Meyer going to be delisted this year? So why include them. At 193cm, Rance is your only defender over 191cm, and he's still yet to play a senior game. So this probably is the worst defence in the AFL in terms of talent and upside. :)

The Blues have the most impressive defensive talent, and are just starting to learn to work as a unit and adapt to our new gameplan in this post-Pagan era

Very tall defenders
- Setanta (200cm). Fast, athletic, perfect matchup for the Gorillas' and resting rucks

Tall, athletic defenders (191 to 194cm)
-Thornton
-Waite
-Bower
-Austin
-Jamo (a truly outstanding defensive talent. Off the scale closing speed)

Medium, ultra-fast rebounding defenders
-Andrew Walker
-Joey Anderson

Small defenders, with extreme speed for opposition small diving forwards
-Browne
-Armfield

So, Ratten has quite a nice mix of defensive talent at his disposal. We can pretty much adapt to a small or tall opposition forwardline. The Blues are rapidly turning a previous defensive weakness into a strength. :)

Because we have Reid and Rusling as forwards. We're overstocked there, and Anthony is a superb backman, who will free up Clarke to the midfield. It's common sense. He can be sent forward at times if we're struggling to score, but his main position WILL be as a backman.

Raines is a keeper (came 3rd in the rising star a few years ago) but honestly Meyer is a spud who should be delisted, another Greg Miller draft blunder, I think that was the same year they drafted JON as well :D :D

Miller should have been fined for some of those draft gaffs. They are just so bad. :)

Bag Meyer at your own peril. Its not his fault, nor Millers that hes had hip problems since being drafted. Now that they're all fixed, he'll be our most improved in 09. Have not one ounce of doubt in my mind.

Raines actually came second. Shaw came third from memory.
