Yeah, and so are torrenting programs and bongs. Just all three are usually/nearly always used for illegal purposes.No. Been Legal according to the Courts and Law Makers
You realize emulators are 100% legal right?
Not necessarily, a number of them require a dump of the console BIOS to operate, that BIOS dump is copyrighted/protected.
Emulation has always been a grey area, it's technically illegal but no one has really cared. Now that Nintendo is cracking down, and with the rise of the Raspberry Pi and every idiot selling their shitty Retropie packages online that are competition for these re-released "mini" consoles, posting about it becomes more of a risk.
If Bigfooty want to protect themselves by saying "no links" then fair enough, it's why I didn't post a link to the SD card images someone was asking about before. As usual, something that has been relatively "underground" and ignored for years has been ruined by plebs jumping on the bandwagon and monetizing it.
Some People have Reversed Engineered the Bios so it that makes it Legal
The past few weeks have been pretty bad for fans of the retro gaming scene. Following action by Nintendo, two ROM platforms shut down in response to a lawsuit and another, EmuParadise, voluntarily stopped providing game downloads.
