Yes, a rasslin thread so dont say you havent been warned, slapnut!

Whats better. The Rocks, rockbottom, or Bookers, bookend???
Stone Colds Stunner, or DDP's Diamond Cutter?

Im just curious for what other wrestleheads think. My personal fave of the minute is Beniots Crippler Crossface. Dont mind Undertakers 'last ride' and for an oldie but goldie, George the animals armbar (the one were he just twisted to other guys arm behind his back and lifted him up,oouuuccchhh).

The lamest finshers got to be Jarrets 'stroke' in WCW and The Rocks 'peoples elbow'.

Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.

Showing my age a bit here.
But i used to really enjoy Jake 'The Snake' Roberts DDT.
One of the great moments in wrestling was 'The Snake' DDTing Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat (jeez, i hated him) on the concrete floor outside the ring.

King Kong Bundy's 'splash' was another good one. Demanding a 5 count instead of the standard 3. Just to prove the victim was 'out'.

where's wally?

Gotta love the flying elbow from the top rope, by the MM Randy Savage. Lamest would have to be Hulk Hogans leg drop.

These days, I like the Dudley Boyz "3D" finishing move.

P.S. Have you noticed how the DDT in the old days of "Jake the snake" was a deadly move the warranted the end of the match. But these days, a DDT will only get a two-count at best!!

Yeah Dan,
The Snake's was the original DDT and it was deadly!
I agree with yer Hulk Hogan comments too, the 'leg drop' was bloody pathetic. One of my favorite Hulk Hogan moments was when Mr. Wonderful (remember him?) Paul Orndorff was 'The Hulkster's' partner in a tag team match v King Kong Bundy (another one of my favorites) and Big John Studd. Orndorff turned on Hogan and piledrived him in the middle of the ring. He and Studd then held him down on the mat and Bundy 'splashed' him 3 or 4 times. From memory, i think it was a plan hatched by manager Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan. Truly a great moment in the WWF.

ahh.. ok, this is from the older days of the wwf... when i was a huge fan as a kid..

yeappp.. randy MM savage's flying elbow from the top rope was a top move.... remember when he did that with the bell on ricky dragon steamboat's neck?? ricky got up and couldnt breathe? heheh.. shit, still had nightmares about that... (was a little kid back then..hhee)..

mr wonderful orndorff's pile driver was a great move... loved jake's DDT... remember the match when ricky brought out his dragon/lizard type thing.. when jake brought out his snake 'Damien' ?! hahahah..

how bout the ****y looking Greg the hammer valentine's figure 4 leg lock? aha..

or the iron sheik's camel clutch?

brutus the beefcake's sleeper hold.. i think Adonis did a sleeper hold too..

the ugandan freak show, Kamala ? flying splash from the top rope? hahaha..

how bout that knob 'the earthquake'.. jumpin around when the opponent was down.. how lame..hehe

The greatest finishing move of all time was Hogans Leg Drop!!! What a champ! He is bigger that Wrestling!

Other faves :

Macho Man Flying Elbow was awesome, flying through the air in his multicoloured outrageous outfits.

Booker T Book End, BT rules!!

Jake the Snakes DDT, i think the DDT should still be considered a finishing move.

Buff Bagwells Buff Blockbuster is inventive.

DDP Diamond Cutter

Rocks Rock Bottom

Hitmans Sharpshooter is a classic

But the most electrifying finishing move in todays wrestling without a doubt has to be Goldbergs double. The Spear followed by the Jackhammer is just awesome.

Lame finishing moves :

Jarrets Stroke

Poppa Pumps move (the name of his move escapes me)

Kroniks High Times

The leader of MIA forgotten his name too dammit!! Mindblock anyway his finishing move sucks too.

Frankensteiner (huracanrana) or Steiner Recliner (submission) ?

No Laughing Matter (moonsault)

I used to love George The Animal" Steele eating the padding on the turnbuckles. Could that be described as a finishing move? :p

Kidmans shooting star press is an awesome finsihing move, one of the more risky ones too.

DDPs Diamond Cutter and Austins Stunner are both good, theyre similar but seperate moves so you cant say who does it better.

The 2 best Powerbombs: Mike Awesome and Kevin Nash. Other cool moves....Jakes DDT, Ravens Evenflow, Juvi and Bigelows piledrivers, Halls Outsiders Edge, Mengs/Hakus Tongan Deathgri,Blitzgriegs move from the top, Saturns DVD...

BRets sharpshooter shits all over Stings Deathlock. Sting looks like he's standing up when he does it, doesnt lean back enough.

The Rocks' Rock Bottom kills the Bookend. Whenever I see Booker T try to use that move it just reminds me of the Rock. His entrance music is bad enough.

Jarrets stroke is a bit weak, but he makes up for it with his mic skills and charisma. Big Poppa Pumps Steiner Recliner is another weak finisher, the opponent isnt even lying flat, anyone can put the steiner recliner on without any pain if the opponent is on their knees.

The 2 worst finishers have gotta be The Ultimate Warrors Gorilla Press Slam and Hogans leg drop. Their WM 6 clash was one of the most anticipated matches of all time(god knows why) It was a 10 min match in which the Warrior and Hogan together notched up about 3 genuine wrestling moves(clothesline, bodyslam, clothesline) then after all that work they have to have a rest so Hogan jumps outside the ring saying his ankle is hurt.
Anyway, After 10 minutes and 3moves the Warrior pinned Hogan (yes, you heard right PINNED HOGAN) with a body splash and won the match.

EXCITING

Anyone remember 'The Missing Link'? He was one of Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan's proteges.
Used to wear green make up and his whole wrestling repetoire consisted of one move.
The headbutt. Bloody classic!

Or 'Killer Khan'? one of the evil Mr. Fuji's disciples. The 'Killer' used to spew a green substance outta his gob into the face of the unsuspecting opponent. It was known as 'Mongolian Mist' and the victim was temporarily blinded. First time i saw it used was on good guy' 'Outback Jack'. The poor dumb Aussie was the first exposed to this underhanded and sinister 'finishing move'. Killer Khan was one evil mutha.

The same thing happens with the figure four. Nobody seems to tap out of it these days, but it used to be a "devestating" finishing move a few years ago.

Jeff Jarret used the figure four (just before he came to WCW) in the WWF. He was one of the few wrestlers that used it in the "modern" era.

any other notable submission finishing moves?

remember Hercules Hernandez ??

he had one... backbreaker?? the opponent was rested on hercules' shoulders, where he would bounce and arch the opponent's back and neck..

UNDERTAKER & KANES!!!!

theirs is the maddest ever even though i dont know what its called but......is it chokeslame???....my neighbour can pick me up like that but he doesnt really choke me!!!

LATERZ

"GO ANTHONY"

I remember a couple of weeks back on Nitro. Goldberg had just finished off Reno when Lex Luger came into the ring and did something like this to Goldberg.

Btw, Goldberg's Spear Tackle is an incredible move. I saw an episode of Nitro just recently when he speared Kwee-wee in mid air. Devastating!

The madboy experience - better than a poke in the eye with a burnt stick (well, sort of ).

mate im afraid your wrong on the ddt a few months ago it was undertaker vs rikishi and it was an undertaker ddt that finished the match

the greatest finishing move??? stone cold stunner

or the crippler crossface
but my all time favourite is the worm by scotty 2 hotty

the most lame is big show's (formely known as the giant) final cut although he's other finishing move the show stopper is extremly effective
Kurt Angle's Olympic Slam also deserves a good mention

This is my list of my favourite finishing
moves:

1)Stone Cold's Stunner

2)DDP's Diamond Cutter (i know the moves are a little alike, but when DDP does it from the top rope it's great.)

3)The Undertaker: Any of his finishing moves are great, The Chokeslam, The Last Ride or The Tombstone, when he would complete the move and then cross the opponent's arm for the cover.

4)The Dudley's 3D, best when they do it through a table.

5)The Rock's Rockbottom, the way he stalks his opponent

My favourite was Killer Karl Cox who did the BrainBuster, it was just a common old suplex you see in lots of matches these days.
Mark Lewin was the master of the Sleeper.
Fritz Von Erich with the Claw.

Some that I don't think have been mentioned....
Honky Tonk Man's "Shake Rattle'n'Roll"
D'Lo's "Sky High"
Michaels' "Sweet Chin Music"
Iron Sheiks "Camel Clutch"
Mankinds "Mandible Claw"
Al Snows "Snowplough"
Billy Gunns "Fame-asser"
HHH's "Pedigree"
But my favourite all time finisher that never failed to crack me up was Golddust's "Shattered Dreams"

I want to vote for the worst finishing move.

Does anyone remember "Bad News Brown", from the old WWF days? Apparently from "Harlem, New York", he was just a big black dude with no costume or nothing.

His devastating finishing move? "The Ghetto Blaster". Sounds impressive, right? Prepare to be amazed.

About-to-be-pinned opponent staggers around the middle of the ring in a daze, and our boy BNB sneaks around behind them, and - wait for it - kicks them in the back of the head.

Nope, that's it. Scary, huh?

Needless to say, BNB didn't last very long.

My favourites were the Macho and his elbow - still the best - and King Kong Bundy. I was impressed he could ever get off the ground, and then he'd splash them and make the ref count to five. I remember him beating Special Delivery Jones in about 10 seconds one night.

Ah, those were the days ...
