This 'player attributes' template was used on the main board to identify the best midfielder in the comp, but I thought it could be useful here too. I've tried my best, funnily enough Selwood wins as most MVP across all attributes. Quite a few big name players are missing from the list, eg Mackie. What do you think?

Defensive Pressure: Enright/Lonergan/Guthrie
Courage: Lonergan (he has one kidney after all)/Selwood/Bartel

Physical Strengths
Speed: Motlop/Murdoch/Blease/Simpson:D:p

Kicking Length: Taylor

Skills
Tackling: Selwood/Caddy

If you are doing this purely from a Geelong perspective it shouldn't really come as a big surprise that Selwood features heavily.

This will come down to personal perspective however I'm not sure I agree with Johnson as the Forward Pressure winner.

For a start, he isn't really located in the forward line much these days.

Forward pressure represents the ability of a player to either keep the ball in or create a turnover in that part of the ground.

I don't know if any of our players are that great at that specific aspect right at the moment. The big guys don't really have the ability to lock the ball in and no small players have really stepped up and made that position their own (Gregson is likely to be the next guy to be tried there).

Finishing is a player's ability to kick a goal, yeah? That's my take and my gut tells me Duncan has a better conversion rate when kicking for goal than Selwood does.

I also think Guthrie's handball ability is being undersold a bit (again, that is a gut feeling) while Lonergan is probably a bit stronger than he gets credit for.

As for kicking length, very (very) early days but Cockatoo might give this a nudge in time based on his most recent match while Mackie also has the ability to get good distance, particularly on the run.

Both Hawkins and Kersten have some length from set shots too.

As I say, it is all personal opinion.

Directing the team- pretty much all senior players. Have noticed it more from Mackie, SJ and Selwood, though- probably taking responsibility for the young players.

Forward pressure- Varcoe oops! Murdoch... Struggling to think of a player whose tackles really stick these days. Probably Bartel would be my #1. None of the to her blokes seem to know how to stop an opponent in their tracks with a well-placed tackle. Possibly due to the rule changes in that I think they are ready to let go at the moment the ball is dropped or released- poor umpiring decisions over recent years has made them all a bit edgy.

Courage- again, add Jimmy to that list but plenty of his teammates have courage. Stokesy, too.

Speed? Simpson? Those words are mutually exclusive- or were you just testing to see who really read your post? :p Add cocky to that.

Strength- add Lonergan, Selwood and Jimmy. For their size, they go ok. :) and, of course, Menzel v2011.

Handballing- you've missed an obvious one in Boris. I think some of the young players like Lang and Thurlow will come into calculations here and in the area of kicking, with their skills already showing early.

Oops- I hit "post" by mistake. Hadn't quite finished!
Speaking of finishing....

Finishing- I love the long goals of Mackie, so would add him in here. Also Duncan. Cocky's goal last week might see him push into this group, too.

Marking- not sure why you've included Stanley (you've obviously seen a lot more of him than I have) but I'd like to add Stokes in here as well.

Guthrie is a line breaker and one of the best kicks we have. In fact, I would honestly put Guthrie up there next to Motlop when it comes to lateral mobility as in side stepping and evading a player. Tremendous foot speed as well.

Enright is also our best handballer in my opinion. He will often pin point them 30-35 metres down the line. Terrific hands for marking too.

I would have Stanley in the speed section. He's probably the fastest player at the club.
Boris is freakish with his ability to pick the ball up and pump out a 30 metre handball all in one motion as well

I rate Duncan as the best kick we have, he is a beautiful kick of the footy and rarely misses a target or a shot, Jimmy is our best clutch kick for goal I reckon if that is an option to pick

What about some other criteria.

Best at giving away frustrating free kicks ?

Budda Hocking...... Tough little player with a tinge of the dirty , knew how to just drop into a player in pack. Could tackle with fists to the stomach and really make it hurt when a tackle could go too high.

Cam Mooney......... For such a threatening character, ohh so often he was reported or gave away free kicks for something with little menace , with little gain. For a period there , the TV even christened the camera that followed him as the Cam Cam , as it was almost sure to give them value

Matty Scarlett....... Most level headed , but on occasion the moment or the player could provoke action. A sneaky one here or there when a forward was getting on top of him but who could really grumble when he gave the Munshkin one.

But the winner is.....
Darren "Dasher" Milburn . Here was a player that was a very, very good versatile player but when the Angel of Anger danced on his shoulder , he really could do some dumb things. Loved like few players over at Carlton for his cheeky smile and he was just so lucky in in 09 , if we had lost , by that goal just before half time , it would have marred his career.
