Hey all, just wanted to ask everyone what their favourite/best PSN games are. Even though I've had a PS3 for ages, it's only fairly recently that I have begun looking to purchase PSN games, and as such I have no idea where to start. I don't lean to any sort of genre really, I am also sort of looking for games that aren't too huge of a download.

Maybe give me your top 10 or 5? Cheers.

geez.....

there's so many ridiculously great psn titles...could tell you shitloads but will just give out a few of my favs
(i have bought roughly 70 psn titles fwiw)

off the top of my head a few of my favs were trine 1 and 2, the wipeout series, super stardust hd, joe danger, lara croft and the guardian of light, shatter, outland, nba jam, pixeljunk shooter 1 and 2..........and..i think i'll stop there for the time being.

they are all fantastic games with a LOT of gaming hours in them and a nice cheap price point.

something else i'll add if you don't know already is that buying ps+ is the best value for money you can get for your ps3 system.
lasts a full year for 79 dollars(?) and you'll have your money paid back in free games within the first 2 months guaranteed. i will never go without it for as long as i game on the ps3/ps4 if they continue with it.

in before hbk mentions flower and journey

In rough order, these games I played via PSN download and all would rank among my favourite games of the last five years or so.

Costume Quest, Journey, Braid, The Unfinished Swan, Megaman 9, Limbo, Stacking

They've been mentioned before, but my top 10 would be, in no order:

Flower - Was the best PSN game until the following game. Absolutely outstanding and unique experience that is hard to forget.

Journey - The no.1 PSN game imo. Such an incredibly unique experience that coupled with the online interactivity makes for a different experience every time you load it up. Only about 2 hours long at most, but something that I will never forget.

Dead Nation - Got this free with the PSdowN free game bonuses and was very pleasantly surprised. An isometric zombie shooter with solid mechanics, solid feel and just a really fun time to be had.

PixelJunk Shooter 1 & 2 - The 2nd is better than the 1st and WAY longer, but both can be coupled as the 2nd just carries on from where the 1st left off. Good arcadey shooter, with some great boss battles.

Limbo - Not the greatest thing to happen to mankind like some made it out to be. But a nice, short puzzle/platformer that tells an emotional story.

Outland - Fantastic controlling game with a great twist on the platformer mechanic. Option of co-op too.

NBA Jam On Fire Edition - NBA Jam, updated in HD with a ton of teams, players and features. Must buy!

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light - One of the best PSN games by a mile. This game helped to spawn the new Tomb Raider game coming out next year it was that good. A great isometric shooter with some smart puzzles and the option of co-op as well.

Sound Shapes - A great sound based platformer. Has a phenomenal soundtrack and decent platforming. Plus there's a level creator and the option to play those made by others, which means you have more or less infinite levels...and there's some damn good stuff out there to play.

The last game I'm going to cheat with and put one that was released at retail as well, but:

Burnout Paradise - Simply put, I am in NO WAY a racing game fan. But I have played Paradise 2 times over it's that damn good. I got it free again from PS+ and put in probably 60+ hours after easily putting in that much the first time around as well. I loved it so much that I even bought the DLC expansion. It still looks DAMN good as well for a near 5 year old game, and it runs at a buttery smooth 60fps.

If you wanna see the various ramblings and impressions from myself and others about some of these PSN games, check out the PSN Games thread here: www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/psn-games.605696

Great, cheers, I did a search but didn't get any results yesterday so I started this thread. That link was exactly what I was looking for.

I think Outland will be the first one I try out. Just happened that I got a discount code for Trine and Trine 2 on Steam recently, funny to see a few mention those games.

Costume Quest is amazing. Thankfully it was one of the "free" games one month with PS+ otherwise it's something I'd have never bought. Once you figure out what you do in those boss battles and how to manage your points and upgrades with your group (game is better once your friends trick or treat/explore with you) it is very addictive. Made by the same guys as Stacking which was also pretty cool but I thought the story & wit in Costume Quest made it the better of the 2. I had 100% in it til the DLC came out. Might download & play the DLC portion tonight.

Agree with HBK in that FLOWER is a great title but my emotions went from an ethereal? & simplistic sense of healing the world one bloom at a time, flowing with the wind and just relaxing to being pissed off at the rusty metal structures that are in one level and the excessive wind strength in another that kept blowing me where I didn't want to go, made me not want to be a flower after all.

Bought the DLC and finished this over the last 24hrs. Back to 100% completion. Still such a cool title. Brave, witty & cheeky little kids those. Although it's all written dialogue, it is a strong point of the game.
Might get the Stacking DLC next weekend. Pretty safe to say most people (not me) will be playing black ops 2 though.

Journey is probably the best PSN game I've ever played. I actually felt depressed when it ended. >_> Make sure you play it online!

Other than that there's WipEout HD Fury, Tekken 5 DR, Worms, Critter Crunch, Dead Nation, Scott Pilgram (good 4 player laugh) etc.

I got Trine on Steam when it was on sale, it's a great game.
