As for serious ones, Cities XL 2012 is coming out soon. The game may have some bugs and not feel overly polished but you sure can make some pretty cities in it.

The Emergency series is riddled with bugs, but if you want to play as the emergency services, that's about your only option.

The Tropico series may be of interest. That's a bit like Sim City, except on a Carribean island with a lot of other factors to consider.

I'm sure I saw a game along the lines of Rollercoaster Tycoon on Steam recently, but I cannot find it now.

How many hours you poured into these Jab? 100? 200? 5000?

I know it's 5000.;)

Loves me some Farming Simulator 2011 myself. GiantBomb do it justice in this epic Quick Look.

Although I hear it could've been superseded by Agricultural Simluator 2011: http://store.steampowered.com/app/92900/

Wouldn't mind me some Ship Simulator Extremes as well. It does have EXTREMES in the title, I mean, it's a Ship Simulator...BUT EXTREME!

Another GiantBomb Quick Look to watch of the Extreme Ship Simulator: http://www.giantbomb.com/quick-look-ship-simulator-extremes/17-3160/

This might help for changing the resolution to widescreen...

http://simcityforum.com/showthread.php?t=848

or this: http://www.widescreengaming.net/wiki/SimCity_4

These are the settings I'm using (in Steam launch options)...

Code:
-w -CustomResolution:enabled -r1680x1050 -intro:off -CPUP -EH:off

can't remember what the EH setting is sorry (it was a while back) - I must have seen that somewhere else, as it doesn't look like it's mentioned at the above links.

Yeah I just got it. What about the best Sim City game for PC?

I'm pretty sure that if you own Cities XL 2011 you can get 2012 for a discounted price. The cities will most likely be compatable too, although I guess that shows that there isn't a huge update going from 11 to 12.

Sim City 4 was a very good game but it's very dated now. I play these games largely for the look of the cities and, unless you are making a grid-like metropolis, cities in Sim City 4 just look generic. This is largely because you can only create roads on a grid or at 45 degrees. In cities XL you can place roads in pretty much any way you want, making for much prettier looking cities, especially in suburbia.

Football Manager is the best sports sim by far.

Not sure if you would call it simulation but the Total War series is great, maybe not 100% historically accurate and might be a rts game rather than a simulation but it's brilliant. Civ 4/5 is the same.

Here's my laptop specs. Do you think I would be able to play the game?

I have a Mac but unfortunately developers don't release lots of games on Mac. I might need to install Windows on my Mac to get some good games. If my specs aren't good enough any other city games?

Unfortunately dude your integrated graphics card will hold you back a fair bit. Cities XL is a pretty heavy game to run as it is poorly optimised.

I have a feeling that Sim City 4 is available on MAC. Yeah, it's dated, but head on over to www.simtropolis.com and check out the thousands of mods there. It's a more polished game than Cities XL that's for sure, but just looks rather old.
