Best Striker in the EPL

Hard to go past Thierry. If Real didn't have Raul, surely they'd put up any amount of money to have this bloke up front. He and Mutu are doing wonders for my fantasy squad.

Has to be between Anelka, Henry, and Ruud.

Anelka: Has been playing a lone hand for city last season and this season. Has set up as many as he scored last year.

Henry: All Class what else can I say.

Ruud: Hate him, but admire him. Has an extrondary strike rate for goals per game. (Still Hasn't score aganist City Yet :) )

What about Beattie and Shearer?

Beattie: scored more than Sunderland combined last season and doesn't get the quality of feeding that Henry and Ruud get.

Shearer: has scored over 20 goals every season of the Priemership! The guy is a machine and the main reason behind the revival of the Toon Army.

Not that these two are fine strikers, I'd take them in a flash.

I just rate Henry, Anelka and Ruud higher than Beattie and Shearer.

Henry, RVN and Owen are leaps and bounds ahead of Anelka

Owen again is a gun but still from what I have seen I rate Anelka Higher to the fact, until now his had second rate service and still creates and scores goals.

This year will be the test for him because he will get decent service. And with this service should get himself into the top 2 or 3 strikers in the league.

Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Hernan Crespo are a class ahead of every striker at the moment..

I think next class is propably Mutu, Shearer, Henry, Anelka

Then you have Owen, Beattie

And so on IMO

Ruud is a machine... he scores at will.. him and Ronaldo are the 2 best strikers in the world. Vieri, Shevy and Trezeguet not too far away

Anelka had the same service at Liverpool and Owen outperformed him.

True!

Although Owen and Anelka obviously didn't work well together. (similar with Fowler and Anelka) because they had played on the same side.

Also remeber that Anelka has played in the best sides in the world in Real Madrid and Arsenal.

And Also Remeber he starred as teenager at Arsenal, dare I say as good or better than Owen at the same age.

And he is not as good now as he was when he was younger at Arsenal. If he was he wouldn't be at Man City. In te present Owen is the better player

And by the way MacManaman isn't the best English player

MacManaman's teammates at Real Madrid (yes the best team in the world) said openly that they can't believe that he didn't make the England side.
It was an inditement upon England not to pick him to proove his worth.

In relations to Anelka, where are City Currently?
Could this be due to One Nicolas Anelka?
Seeing that he is the current EPL leading scorer!

Well, gees Owens to far behind to catch him now  If I recall Anelkas goal record last year was far better earlier in the year then later as well

And just because ManManaman may have been unlucky not to play for England doesn't make him the best English player. If you would rather MacManaman at City ahead of guys like Beckham and Owen you truly need your head checked. It would be like me saying Juninho was the best Brazilian player

Macca ahead of Owen = Yes, for sure

You have me on Beckham! :(

Juninho has had his chances to proove his worth at International Level, unlike Macmanaman.

You have to admit that Macmanaman should have been in the England side all along.

Anelka is at City now because when he was younger he was considered as having a bad attitude.

He walked out on Arsenal and then had a horror time off the field in madrid, even at PSG he was considered to have a bad attitude and PSG loaned him out to Liverpool. Houllier then chose Diouf over him after basically promising Anelka he would be a red permanently.

Hes on the rebound and once he hits form hes every bit as good as Henry. Infact Patrick Vieira said Anelka is a better player than Henry and has more talent.. he said this last yr.

The way Man City are spending it might not be such a bad thing to play for them.

Macca ahead of Owen. Okidoke then, they'll be coming with the straight jackets shortly. Has the thought crossed your mind that Owen might be worth a fair bit of money to City even if he doesn't combine well with Anelka.

To say MacManaman is the best player in England is without a doubt the most stupid thing I have ever read. I haven't debated that Macca should have played more for England. I wasn't saying Juninhos position with Brazil was similar, the comparison was intended to show that saying that would be bias like your rating of MacManaman clearly is.

And if I am not mistaken rating him the best English player (behind Beckham) after one game after hardly playing for 2 years might be just you getting very very carried away

You know I rated Macmanaman as High now as when he was at Real and Liverpool.
I still think that some of Engalnds most skillfull players haven't had the chance to proove themselfs in the past. One Name comes to mind Le Tisser.
I rated him one of Englands best players although he only played a handful of International matches. Similar to Macmanaman!

Sadly, he did last years OT derby (but the Goat still has a much better derby record).

I didn't see a heap of him at Arsenal, but I reckon he is a vastly superior player than he was back then. Much more rounded, more willing to work for the cause, and while he still has his weaknesses he is developing into a top notch striker.

I agree Owen is the better player, his record makes it impossible to argue against that. I would say Owen is the more clinical finisher, Anelka is the better allrounder.

I haven't seen a lot of improvement from Owen in the last few years, but Anelka is going ahead in leaps and bounds. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Anelka is considered the superior player in the next 3-4 years.

Sadly, it looks like your mob will be spending a few years in the Premiership, but that means that RVN will have plenty of chances to improve his derby record ;)

Speaking of scoring rates, I have this recollection that Ian Rush always used to have scoring against Manchester United (of if that was incorrect, it may have been an inability to score at Old Trafford). He only broke his drought in 92/93.
