A mate and I were discussing the Pacers landing Paul George at number 10 and what a difference it can make when teams end up with those epic value picks, so then we started trying to work out who was the best value pick we could remember.

Came up with Ginobli as an obvious one, taken at 57 in 1999.

Kobe at 13 is a pretty good return. ;)

I think both Malone and Stockton were taken outside the top 10 in their draft years.

Who am I missing?

Anthony Mason at #53?

Oh, and because I watched that Vlade Divac documentary the other night, what about Petrovic at #60 overall?

How far back exactly is "recent memory"? I can barely remember last year... :p

Well I've probably only been watching NBA for 20 odd years, but have basic knowledge of a decade or so before that, cause decent NBA careers generally last 10+ years...

So my recent memory would be 20ish

not a star but delly went undrafted and is now doing good things for the cavs. thats a pretty good pick up.

Said before the draft that teams should look at Delly, Brandon Davies and Peyton Siva for late pick value or undrafted. So far all three have played in the NBA. Just got the feeling seeing all three play in college that aside from athleticism they all had a competitive streak and nous for playing the game.
