Appears to have done his ankle.

Hopefully it isn't too bad, we really do need him for the hit and giggle stuff.

Harvey also hurt himself in the same game with a 'slight' hamstring tear but should be OK for the ODIs

What would be our 1 day line-up if Bevo doesn't come back..something like this maybe:

Gilchrist
Hayden
Ponting
Martyn
Watson
Clarke
Harvey
Hogg
Lee
Gillespie
McGrath
Bichel

Watson is an interesting one. On first thought i didn't think he should be there, given he can't bowl, however i simply couldn't come up with a more fitting replacement.

Well, i'd like to think Hodge is a better batsman, but i can't see him being given a chance.

Same sadly.

There are a couple of Aus A games in January that may tell a tale for 1 day games beyond that (January 1 versus Zimbabwe in Perth and January 7 against Zimbabwe in Adelaide).

Should Hodge (and you would think he would be picked) play there, that represents his best chance on making an impact.

On Watson, you could play Symonds as well instead and let Watson play for Aus A

Yeah, forgot Symonds. I'd definitely go for him before Watson.

Also think Katich might be a chance. I wouldn't play him, but you can't fault his form at ING Cup level.

Has Warne said that he's going to play ODI's again?

He Is said to be re-thinking His decision to retire from the ODI's as the Goal posts have moved with regard to Burn out

I wish Bevan would injure himself permanently. Still playing off the reputation of a few decent knocks early in his career... He has done nothing since, except preserve his precious average.

Yeah, he's hardly done anything since early in his career.

And the 'protecting his average' gag, isnt that a favourite. Must be an amazing coincidence that he has tied so many 1 day innings together in the course of building up his average.

Australia would be much better off if we had a couple of other players in the 1 day side that 'protected their average' as well as Bevan does.

Pretty much. I think he said it publicly the other day, and Hookes & Jenner have pretty much said so
As for the side, I would think Lehmann's still in the mix - especially if Bevan is out
Last I heard Watson can bowl after Xmas so if this is still the case I reckon he'll play for AA on Jan 1. Can't see him returning to the national side until Sri Lanka at least unless Harvey gets injured.

If fit, Boof is a certainty. I just assumed he would still be injured.

He was aiming to be back for the VB Series. I saw him jogging on TV a few days ago. I wonder if the selectors would play Lehmann, McGrath and Watson for Australia A, otherwise they'll be very underdone when the VB Series begins.

He says he's spoken to the selectors and they hinted he'll play most of January with the Redbacks for a possible return to national duty on the tour of Sri Lanka

I hope you know what you're talking about, coz going by what you just said, you don't

Better off how - we won the world cup didn't we?

The selectors had already dropped the 'king of average protection' Steve Waugh from the ODI side - that must be an ominous warning bell for boring Bevan.
