Has had his moments and was definitely an elite 1 day player a few years ago.

I'd also argue he's been the architect of as many losses due to his selfish play as games he's won off his own bat.

In regards to your quip re: respect for services given to Aussie cricket....Allan Border gave great service and was once a great player - but you don't see him with a contract do you

His time has obviously passed. Same with Bevan.

Good to see that Brad Hodge and Matthew Elliott get called up. Don't know if they will last though.

Bevan wasn't good enough for the test side. They are going to miss his experience though.

He deserved a chance to get back to the form that made him the number 1 one day batsmen in the world and he doesn't deserve the abuse and criticism he has undeservedly got throughout his career
