So, a mega rich individual comes to the rescue of thier club by accepting to become president and putting their hand in their pocket to get the club out of strife.

Sounds familiar.

Joseph Gutnick put his hand in his pocket to help out Melbourne from going under. But eventually the club effectively said "thanks for your money, now theres the door".

Richard Pratt is in a potentially similar situation. Does he honestly think that the club would be after him if he only had a few million dollars rather than over one billion dollars? I doubt it. As soon as the club is out of trouble, watch the factions come and try to claim power. For Pratts sake, I hope that doesn't happen.

On a side note. If I happened to be a billionare and Richmond was in Carltons situation, I would have put my hand in my pocket years ago to not only to do enough to get it out of trouble but to also help it become a powerhouse. Even without incentive of becoming president.

It's laughable how much misinformation is floating around regarding Gutnick.

The facts are that when Gutnick became president Melbourne were doing very well financially, we had money in the bank and definitely not in debt with a board in total unity.
When he left we were down the gurgler to the tune of about $3m, he also left a trail of destruction behind him. He split the club into two factions that did their very best to tear the heart out of the club by their infighting and backstabbing. Inthe end the very same people that he got onto the board were the ones who dumped him.

Gutnick's white knight status is complete tripe.

Can't we change his name to No-gutnick?

I have to agree. No-gutnick is a dispicable individual. He even sued a US magazine company because their website had a story about his "way of business" and No-gutnick did not want to have the info made public.

His argument was that since the info is downloaded into the cache of the browser and can be printed in Australia, the 1st Ammendmant (free speech) in the US Bill of Rights could not be used as a defence. This is another nail in global journalistic integrity.

As far a Melbourne goes, I hope No-gutnick gets what he deserves for what he did to the Demons.

I had problems with the link so go to www.google.com and enter joe gutnick dswcc then read the article.

That's a pretty good point. He's had ample opportunity to help his club. The fact that he didn't like the president, or his mates are no longer there, shouldn't be an issue.

I'd like to know where you're getting your information from??

Gutnick helped Melbourne....a lot.

Pratt has already said that he will not be a white knight. Sure, he will inject some money into the club, but have a look what else he brings to the table. Business contacts, Business savvy, the ability to make tough decisions and he wants the best people he can get surrounding him.

Delve into the history books and look at our finances pre-Gutnick then look at the post-Gutnick.
