Sorry it's late but I had a busy week and their were a few voters who just didnt vote... The leaderboard is absolutely complete through 4 rounds thanks to Deepthroat finally giving me his votes.

How it works - Position, Votes, Player, last week, this week.

BFWCPOTY Leaderboard Round 1

1. 368 - Michael Gardiner ~~ 1-1
2. 298 - Chris Judd ~~ 3-2
3. 251 - Chad Fletcher ~~ 2-3
4. 240 - David Wirrpunda ~~ 7-4
5. 214 - Daniel Kerr ~~ 4-5
6. 193 - Phillip Matera ~~ 5-6
7. 113 - Andrew Embly ~~ 6-7
8. 92 - Rowan Jones ~~ 13-8
9. 85 - Ben Cousins ~~ 8-9
10. 79 - Travis Gaspar ~~ 9-10
11. 49 - Josh Wooden ~~ 10-11
12. 25 - Drew Banfield ~~ 11-12
13. 20 - David Haynes ~~ 12-13
14. 4 - Dean Cox ~~ 14-14
15. 4 - Ashley Sampi ~~ 14-14
16. 1 - Trent Carroll ~~ 16-16
17. 1 - Adam Hunter ~~ 16-16
18. 1 - Glen Jakovich ~~ 16-16
19. 1 - Daniel Chick ~~ na-16

Wirrpunda and Jones were the big movers against Adelaide. Gardy still leads the way and Fletch and Judd switch spots in the top 3. Chick is the only new arrival with the solitary vote.

Note: I will try to get the Round 5 leaderboard up with all the latest voting from the Derby before Friday. Hopefully everyone will have voted before then.

I can only imagine the lead Gardiners gonna get after the Derby votes are counted..... should be interesting to see if a midfielder can catch up to him later in the season

Gardy deserves his lead at the moment, he is blitzing the competition and is clearly the AA Ruckman after 5 rounds. However you cant count out guys like Judd, Kerr and Wirrpunda who have all started well. Then of course their is the surprise mover in Fletcher.

Cousins is a ways back but the way he can drum up 3 or 4 BOG's in a row and considering you can receive 150+ votes for a clear BOG he is certainly not done with yet.

Cousins is a big vote winner, im expecting for him to get back into the top 5 in the coming weeks

For sure, he is starting to work his way back into some form. Evident from his 2nd half performance against the Violets. I'd still like to see Gardy continue the way he has....make a tough competition with cousins and all.

Im not sure he will do that well this season. An example is the Freo game, I thought he was in the best 2 on the ground with Fletcher...but a lot of voters had him down for 1 or 2 votes and a few people left him out of the voting altogether??

Why? Because 27 disposals for Cousins is a regular game so you dont really think he was that good. Whereas if Braun, Jones or Fletcher pick up 27 disposals then you could bet they would be best on ground.

I think because Cousins has set the bar so high for himself, he will struggle to get over it and gain votes. Unless of course he gets 35 or so possessions then of course you take notice. A good game for most other players is a usual game for Cousins, so you think Fletch played really well, Cousins just played normal, hence, give the votes to Fletch.

That's my take on it....

Youre probably right, Cousins has set a level for himself most players cant reach

He'll still poll well, but with some of the lesser knowns playing good footy, he may well struggle a bit

Its a midfielders award after all ;)

After lasts weeks effort against the shockers, I thought Sampi would be up a bit more....
