First off let me say I'm not blaming the umps for us losing. Richmond were far better than us today and fully deserved the win.
But that was the most disgraceful display of one sided umpiring I've seen since... well... since Richmond last came to Subi.
The free kick count last year was 25-14 and today was 25-15. No one says the frees should be even but anyone watching that game could see there was clearly two sets of rules out there.
Countless times our guys were pushed in the back, had their arms chopped or were caught high with no whistle. Yet the minute we infringed the umpires blew their whistles so quick I thought they were going to inhale them in excitement.
It's hard enough to win in the ultra competitive AFL without the umpires watching our guys like hawks but ignoring anything our opponents do to us.
