First off let me say I'm not blaming the umps for us losing. Richmond were far better than us today and fully deserved the win.

But that was the most disgraceful display of one sided umpiring I've seen since... well... since Richmond last came to Subi.

The free kick count last year was 25-14 and today was 25-15. No one says the frees should be even but anyone watching that game could see there was clearly two sets of rules out there.

Countless times our guys were pushed in the back, had their arms chopped or were caught high with no whistle. Yet the minute we infringed the umpires blew their whistles so quick I thought they were going to inhale them in excitement.

It's hard enough to win in the ultra competitive AFL without the umpires watching our guys like hawks but ignoring anything our opponents do to us.

Couple of comments made by the commentators about Josh Carr getting a couple high, something about having to kill him before a free kick would be paid too him.

Farmer was unfairly treated as well.

Richmond deserved that win, they were very good.

You were 2nd to the ball.
Having said that...the first half you had more than enough reason to be pissed off. Thought we had far too many half-chances given to us. How the hell was Simmonds given a free kick in the middle at the start of the 3rd quarter for nothing?

Umpiring was a disgrace all the soft free kicks were going to richmond an we were getting none only player who got any of the soft 50/50 freea was Pavlich.

Still wouldnt have changed a thing with that pathetic effort freo put in.

We have had plenty of games where we got the wrong side of the whistle like that in the past.

We have gone backwards even from 2007 and I now consider Freo fans are ________s and their own worst enemy.

I hope all the whiteants are happy.

I said to bushie when He visited here that I hoped like hell that the white ants were right & and I hoped we didn't discover that maybe CC got the maximum out of the playing group.

The bronx cheers towards Tarrant was way over the top.

We were outplayed , out coached and out umpired (not that that made any difference).

No excuses for that effort.

Wow Rip. That's the most negative post I can ever remember from you.

Hear, hear. I've been saying for years that the umpires are shit but what they served up today was worse than normal. What about the ____ing maggot who couldn't bounce the ball straight? ____ing drop him for next week.

Geez that's a big call. An umpire who couldn't bounce the ball straight, some truely awful decisions. I thought at times the umpires made us look good.

I was disgusted with the umpiring. The final straw was Wizard getting done for in the back or something on the wing. Palmer had his head ripped off. Schammer falling on someone over the line way after the whistle was blown??. The boundary umpire trying to over-rule a field umpire WTF???? gave them time.

So many decisions weak as piss.

As you said, Richmond deserved the win and well done, but you expect to se a fair game - epecially at home.

I basically gave up whinging at the umps after a while because it was so bad. They tried to even it up a bit in the final term.

I noticed those too NF ;)

And the umpiring was the most biased display I've seen since the Richmond game last year - absolutely disgraceful. We were crap, absolutely crap and deserved to lose, but you can't get back into a game when whatever momentum you do build is broken or undermined by pathetic decisions and/or non-decisions that always seemed to be our players missing out on frees.

Can't remember ONE moment where a Tiger should have got a free and didn't whereas several the other way - that is the definition of biased.

But again, we were worse than crap so it wouldn't have mattered anyway.

Josh Carr had a scrap in the forward 50

Discraceful umpiring,Jcarr was running to space got held so bad he was swung around and the umpire was lookin straight at it and did nothing.I want to know the holding the ball rule because players can just drop it yet we get done for incorrect disposal, why is it we swing a guy 360deg and its play on when he finally gets rid of it yet we have almost no time.At one time there every time we took it forward they got a stupid free.

I absolutely agree. The umpiring was abysmal and I'm not saying that out of sour grapes. I think Richmond would have beaten us today anyway, they played really well.

I know this will sound alarmist, but I have for a long time thought that umpires could be "bought", to influence results of games. Jeez it can happen in Italian Soccer as was proven last year when AC Milan, Jueventus (and Fiorentina, i think) were found to be conspiring to bribes refs and penalised with fines and being dropped a division. Why would we think it can't happen in the AFL?

The odds for a Richmond win would have been pretty good.

That would have been some of the worst umpiring i've seen at Subi - we got absolutely butchered. We wouldn't have won the game, but shit the umpires were biased.

Like that thread abot Jefferey.
Jeffre's history ensures he dosent get a fair go from the umps. Yesterday this was highlighted many times....
..and that was only the tip of the ice berg....
the umpires had a hair up their arse yesterday.

I kinda agree, even though you were second to the ball most of the time.

If the afl want a case of umpiring to a players name and not the game then this is it. Josh Carr and Jeff Farmer were hung drawn and quartered by the umpires.

Felt sorry for Farmer.

I also believe umpires act based on respect. Freo doesn;t have much in the football community (with good reason sometimes). WCE, Adel or Coll would never ever have to put up with that at a home game.
