As many have suggested it is quite possible Rofe, Noffke and others will be good or very good Australian players. The point is however that we will be replacing two of the greatest players to have ever played the game.

There is no doubt we have depth, but there are no instant McGrath's or Warne's waiting in the wings.

The whole Australian team look very tired at present. Interestingly the commentary team think Waugh's innings on Saturday took an enormous mental toll also.

It's quite clear that Waugh is on the wane - yes, he can still hit a decent knock, but they are getting farther and farther apart. A friend of mine suggested at our Sunday nets session that an idea for Waugh might be to send him to the Windies as a batsman only....I'm not sure about it myself, but my friend knows his cricket, what does everyone reckon?

I don't mind the idea at all. I am a Steve Waugh fan and still think he has a lot to offer at a batsman. I also feel that Ricky Ponting is ready to captain Australia at Test level. Maybe just playing as a batsman with no captaincy pressures may allow Waugh to relax and make more runs.

As my mate pointed out, it was something that happened quite regularly in the past, and of course is happening in the England team at the moment. It might give Stevie a little more longevity, and we all know he'd like to get that average back up over 50, although of course he's not interested in stats.....

:p A Mark Butcher type player would be better. As soon a series is lost,he pulls his finger out.

or Andy Caddick.

how soft has this proven him to be. His leading there attack and when the chips are down and they need someone to get them out of it, his nowhere to be seen.

Now he gets a couple of wickets and his team has a chance of victory, his right in the thick of it.

after his outburst when walking of the field in adelaide, his attitude to cricket really has to be assessed by the ECB. for those who dont know, he basically came off the field going berserk and cursing his teammates and saying 'why the fuc|< am i in this team for'

5-0 woulda been nice, but 4-1 will have to do. its still a pretty convincing victory.

The thing that amazes me, not just about Caddick, but arguably all the English bowlers, is how they seem to be unable to bowl a regular line and length - there is at least one four ball every over. NZ bowled line and length last season and drew a test series.....Caddick bowling in the first test was disgraceful, the more so because he IS experienced. He needs to have a good hard look at himself - I doubt he'd get into the lineup in his country of birth....

before this series, i woulda placed him in the Kiwi team, but after this, i dont think i would.

I mean, the thing about the English attack that is so depressing is that they don't even seem to learn - they obviously didn't watch any vision of NZ here last summer, they obviously don't watch McGrath when he's bowling right in front of their stupid bloody faces....just disgraceful.....

.

Yes Caddick is the bowling version of Butcher.Next series,Caddick & Butcher may as well sit out the first 4 tests & just turn up for the last one.

Vaughan was the only English player that did anything when the series was alive.
