Pies will go in to trade week with a lot of cap room and a decent sized fish of our own on the table, (Heath Shaw) so we can at least expect to come away with a top quality player or high draft pick.

Why would you post that?

The Club is silent at the moment. It would be nice if they addressed the members after the trade period to give them a better understanding of where the club is heading. At the moment it just looks like a mad man has taken the wheel and we're heading for a car crash.

Don Draper is closing the deals these days? I like it.

I'd say the figures are right but Johnson and Jolly (and maybe dids) were on that veterans list thingy surely? That means only like half of their salary would be on the actual cap.

I guess that means someone else has to go onto it, but it might make a difference to how much we actually have free.

Only vets this year were Dids & Johno which is $100,000 relief per player.
No more 50% relief rule (since 2012).
New vet rules - serve 10 years at YOUR club & receive $100,000 relief per player, no limit on how many players. I think next year only Swan & Maxy qualify for us.

Why don't we just buy the MFC & use them as our feeder side.
MFC stay at bottom, secure early draft picks & then trade their young & exciting talent to CFC after they have been developed. We give them our older guys who still want to play in the AFL (& assist the MFC youth). It's a no brainer.
Just like carlscum tried to do to Norf

Someone somewhere mentioned Mumford had asked to be traded, if there is any truth to that at all, it must be what we are after.

Ok, Dreamtime....

- Mumford
- Martin
- Adams
- White

Let's figure out how we get all 4.

Pick 10 for Martin, throw in a mid range player
Shaw for Mumford, straight swap
Pick 11 for Adams?
2nd round pick for White

So in the ballpark of Buckley's chance all the way through to "You're out of your farking head". Where does my prediction sit?

Our national draft would be interesting. Hine may as well go home.

I just don't get the negative attitude about Shane Mumford coming to us. I too am not in the frame of mind that we are in a rebuilding stage as some who look at doom and gloom are saying we are. Say we lose Thomas and Shaw, and we have already lost Jolly, Didak, Krakouer and Johnson, I don't see what we have lost, but what we could get for them. As these pages suggest, these players were on decent money, so that money could be offered to other players.

What we need is;

A Ruck: Being a side that has potential if this trade free agent period goes well, we need players capable of playing finals football. I love that Grundy and Witts are our future in the ruck. I really look forward to that happening. However, is 2014 the year that this duo will work well to see us into a strong position in finals? I still tend to think it is too early. I am a big advocate for two ruckman, but Grundy and Witts need a senior ruckman to help along the way next year. If I go to this site: http://supercoach.heraldsun.com.au/statscentre/topplayers?position=RUC I look at what Ruckman are on top of the table. Mumford is 11th on this list, and everyone above him are locked in for the 2014 season with other clubs. I understand that by the end of next year, Witts and Grundy could be better options, and Mumford could slow down like Jolly did. Next year he will be 28, so at the end of next year, he will be 29 going into 2015, 30 in 2016. So a three year deal may well see him out. Three years of natured football for Witts and Grundy, would see them dominant by this time. Both players will be 22-23 years old. Ruckman aren't consistent until around this age. There is also injuries that can have an impact, which may see us short come finals time next year. Young kids like Witts and Grundy, thrown into the fold week in week out, often results in injury, and it is not until three years of preseasons, they develop the staying power. Coming into our finals, I knew that it would not be surprising to me to see Grundy struggle. He did so well for weeks on end, and he began to tire, and I really hoped they use Hudson in the Elimination Final, but it was not to be. Mumford would be great IMO. I just can't see why he is viewed negatively given he is rated 11th best ruck, and his numbers stack up.

I would trade Heath Shaw and our first pick for Mumford and Reid.

I think that Sydney should be keen to get these two players to another club, as they have White that they seem to be in the side now, and they signed Sam Reid up on a five year huge deal. They maybe thinking that they made a mistake. His form wasn't awesome prior to a major injury. I think it can't be forgotten what his potential is though. Mumford as well was signed to a big deal, and they have Mike Pyke and Tippett with White. They can't fit them all in.

CHF/CHB: Sam Reid could be that second key forward, and Ben Reid could go back to CHB where he was AA, OR Sam Reid can be reinvented into a CHB. Sam Reid is taken a little while, but the wait is almost over. I'd like the Pies to be on the receiving end of Sam realising his potential. I don't have a lot of faith in Nathan Brown, as I think he is really slow off the mark, and gets cut up when a tall forward has any pace. Good to have for depth, but not sure he should be relied on week in week out.

Midfielder: Taylor Adams to round out the three players. Impressed with this guy watching him for the GWS.

These three players would be awesome additions to the club I reckon.

So with the $100, 000 relief per player, Maxwell will be paying Collingwood $150,000 to play next year

I like your reasoning, but I would really like to keep our pick 10.

I haven't seen enough of Adams but that is the only possible player I would consider giving up pick 10, if he is better or going to be as good as the prospective draft picks available
