Some of those mentioned are big jelly fish and some are just fantasy.

We’ve missed some players we should have got. It has cost us. Hafey hasn’t forgotten the board overturning his deal with Quinlan. Locket was a howler. I’ve always said we should have landed one of the ruckman who changed clubs over the ’01 to 07 period. Judd was one that got away. We haven’t missed every player that ever got a headline as contemplating changing clubs though.

J Brown
L Power
L Ball
B Goddard

I can't think of any others
Yep, I would have liked all of them, but EVERY one of them remained with their club which says they viewed loyalty over money as being more important

On Tony Lockett the decision was no doubt influenced by the fact we already had Sav Rocca in his prime playing that position and you could not have played both of them

From 1995 to 2000 Lockett kicked 459 goals for Sydney and Rocca kicked 336 goals for us

I doubt 20 goals a year would have been the difference between winning a flag and the shambles of a team we had in the late 90's

I mean we didn't even come close to making the finals in those 6 years let alone a flag.. so this myth of Lockett taking us to a premiership is just sheer nonsense.
