Every year there are established players who go up a grade or two from one year to the next. This is a thread to let everyone know who you think are the big ups.

Two Categories.

FEELING IT: players more than one year on the list you are sure can make the next step up from previous years.

WAS FEELING IT BUT NOT SO SURE: players you thought might make a step up this year on previous years but have doubts now.

FEELING IT:

SPS
Weitering
McKay
Cuningham
Setterfield
Thomas

WAS FEELING IT BUT NOT SO SURE:

Murphy
Dow
C Curnow
Fisher
Kennedy

First time ever sitting at the front of the class.

.....and man, it scares me.
First time you have done a proper preseason, expecting big things this year.

Cut back on the menthols, put the beer limit to an agreeable 20, try to like cosplay, keeping the new comb back mullett.

It’s been a challenge.

Reckon that's a fair enough list.

Murphy - full preseason, has been a bit underwhelming in JLT so some doubt is understandable.
Dow - interrupted pre-season, may not "leap" like many hoped, second year blues is a thing.
C Curnow - still lots of potential but lacking consistency, is this the year or is there more development required.
Fisher - probably more to do with his role than anything else, would love to see him given more responsibility in the middle, but he may be asked to skirt the edges.
Kennedy - question marks on fitness, and following on from that his position in the starting 22.

Don't think the point was to write those players off - just highlighting that many would have been optimistic about those players improving on season 2018, but to date that hasn't really shown up.

Yet we haven’t even played one round yet

There's always preseason analysis, Soap. You know full well I'm on board with the rebuild and what we've done so far, but that doesn't mean we can't be a little underwhelmed when some players really step up while others seem to plateau. It's to be expected, not every player's journey is linear, but we can still recognise that the improvement from guys like Cripps, SPS, McKay, Cuningham etc. this year is made more evident in contrast with the guys listed earlier who haven't stepped up in the same way.

Not everything is an attack.

Never said it was. Just find people making assessments on players after a couple of practice matches ridiculous. All of a sudden people change their opinions on Charlie Fisher or Dow and we haven't even had Rd One. Amazes me
