Seems the makers of XenForo have mixed both, called it trophies but adding them up like points? Besides Trophies is just a copy of achievements anyway.

I guesssssssssss, but they could hardly have bronze, silver and gold.

Systems like this can be fun actually. GiantBomb has/had something similar running for a while, generally getting updated every month or so when a big game came out would have those game specific tasks to getting more points (like go to a page for the main character, etc.). They're all superfluous still at the end of the day, but nice little brain teasers. Doesn't seem like there's much to this system. I'd say we'll all be stuck on 36-38 points for a while.

Potentially yeah. But it's hard to see what you could do that's dynamic enough to keep it fresh.
