Got it. Fair enough.

Johnson played 19 matches last season, so I'd say you probably seen him at some point. Howes at 16 matches is probably the same.

Understand not having knowledge of Bond though with the 7 matches... He was great when I saw him. Did everything you'd want a defender to, so cannot complain there :)
I tend to just watch our games…intently, and very few others, due to appalling commentary/umpiring etc
It just turns me off.
Just like I can’t watch Aussies playing tennis due to the Aussie, Aussie chants…

Very fair. I watch most matches, but I am getting rid of Kayo so won't be next season. Cannot justify the price hike :tearsofjoy:

I guess you won't be watching the tennis tomorrow night then with ADM playing?

Probably watch it for a bit.. but once all those chants start, I switch off…it’s embarrassing

Watching sport is often like watching a Katy Perry music clip...

... It's better with the sound off...

I think every single side has holes, whether it's quality, positional integrity, balance, etc

Its no surprise really, given we had 1 pick evey 18. Would every single recruiter nail a great team under a similar format? I doubt it

My 2 Key forwards have spent time in the forward half, but are now defenders. I could have taken Ollie Lord, but I felt someone like a Himmelberg would have better output

I had plenty of laughs, great fun
Absolutely. Critique given without any bias.

Modern game requires a number of criteria in a “normal” team.

Happy to say my team very subjective and absolutely light in for experience and established consistent form. Tried my utmost to offer balanced one on one capability with, rebound, run and pace, grunt, ability and inclination to defend, goal kicking power (which I am light for proven types), talls, forward pressure etc.

I feel I have an excellent mix, biggest “fail” Is light for x-factor small forwards. I am an easy target with the lack of experience with up to half of the team. I have gambled on too many emerging players peaking together.

It was fun. I can continue to critique through the list as I planned after Sliders started the ball rolling, or desist if participants aren’t up for honest and subjective feedback.

We were all at the mercy of availability and ended up with lists dramatically different to what we would have planned.

I watch every game, even when they clash, I catch a replay
Similar for me.

Too much time in my hands, particularly through winter. Gets a bit old as the season rolls on but I like to keep “informed”.
I happily admit to watching some games more intently than others. Different levels of focus, but absolutely watch 95% of games, including junior representative stuff.

My finished team...

FB: Jack Scrimshaw - Sam Collins - Daniel Curtin
HB: NWM - Harrison Petty - Kane Farrell
C: Justin McInerny - Tom Green - Karl Amon
HF: Brent Daniels - Shannon Neale - Shai Bolton
FF: Nick Watson - Charlie Curnow - Joel Amartey
R: Lloyd Meek - Zach Merrett - Tom Mitchell

I/C: Lachie Weller - Tom Powell - Michael Frederick - Brandon Walker

Sub - Ed Allan
Quite happy with how my team would be looking heading into the season. Couple of injuries but that back line would be a nightmare to deal with on the rebound.

Oh the things I'd do for those small forwards and half backs in our actual AFL side.

A few considerations when I was selecting the side, generally wanting speed, agility and some versatility. Also wanted less ready to retire types

In terms of flexibility, Holmes, Comben, Evans, Durham, TDK, Kelly, Sheezel, Moore, Himmelberg, Owens, Rioli, Ratugolea, O'Halloran, Jones, Maric, can play different positions and or roles

Backline options provide speed, agility and flexibility, with solid disposal and they can defend different type forwards

Mids could almost be classified as consistent blue collarish, with the exception of Sheezel, but rotating options do add xfactor

Forwards once again offers plenty of speed per position and all of them are comfortable pushing or rotating through the middle

Interchange also offers flexibility with O'Halloran and Jones

Sub position continues to evolve and sides are using different types. Maric for me fits the bill as he can play as a defender, wingman or forward

Happy with what I have seen so far

Rioli rightfully playing back 6, but easy to shift Holmes to a wing

Just needs Himmelberg and Esava to play their rightfully position 😛

Although Comben can go forward at any time

Most of my players seem to be pretty locked in to positions in the best 23 of their respective teams which is a good sign. Gawn, Dunkley and Rankine all off to strong starts. Might be in line for an extension.

Reasonably happy with this lot.

Well looking back, obviously the intentions/scoring/assessment of the comp should have been clearer... But I did have a lot of fun creating my team.

Would people be keen on a round 2 this off season with a more set structure of how the teams will be assessed end of year with a scoring system and perhaps a prize at the end?

Having NWM in my team was probably the saving grace in the end as a lot of the rest of the team fell off a cliff 😂

I really enjoyed this so would be nice to do it again. Agree, we probably need a criteria for evaluating teams at the end of the year

I’ll jump on the Itchy critique if we perhaps are going to do this chronologically.

There are some quality players in that group, but so many questions for mine. I would rearrange the personnel a little.

Any team with Cripps, Larkey. Pearce, Maynard and the ‘24 revelation Treacy has a solid base.

My queries start with the ‘24 “health” of the list Pearce, De Koning, Coleman, Sinn, Cerra, DeGoey, Silvagni, Cincotta and Cottrell are coming off injury punctuated seasons, with a number returning from LTIs. Not sure if the group is considering the health of the lists, but objectively it is a concern.

Midfield wise Crippa is a massive piece, a fit Cerra is another, Pendles is past his prime, but still a good contributor, De Goey is more mid than forward these days and is under rated due to his off field exploits, Rayner is a highly effective shock trooper, and Bowes is a very solid player off the bench. I see that mix a player short and light on pace and definitely defensive running. Sharp and Henry are athletic and decent wingmen, but both are attacking types with little defensive intent. Cincotta could add to defensive intent, but is not a frontline or even regular mid. Pitto is a solid battler in the ruck, but will be relying on pinch hitters for a chop out unless SDK is repurposed (have the feeling the Cats plan to)

There is quality in the forward line, Larkey, Treacy, Elliot and Rayner regular goalkickers. de Goey has reduced his scoreboard impact of late for mine. Baker is the only “pressure” player in that front half and it is almost devoid of crumbing ability, with Elliot playing more a lead up mid sizes role than his small stature.

Defensively Jeffrey and Sinn are more rebound types than lock down. I would have Maynard back in a pocket and start Zerk Thatcher. Pearce is an under rated key defender and would be a priceless pillar if he stays fit. A tall trio of Pearce, SDK and Zerk-Thatcher I see as perhaps the biggest strength of the squad. While his pressure would be handy forward, I see Baker better behind the ball or as a defensive wing type. A fit Coleman is a star of the game as a distributing rebounder and a big positive.

There are some big positives, but I question the balance of the squad. Loving the key position options and plenty of grunt and leadership. Thinking I would return Jeffrey to a forward role where he started his career. Not sure I see a dedicated role for JSOS with three key defenders and bulls Rayner and De Goey slated in the forward mix with Larkey and Treacy?

Call it as I see it if we are being honest in our assessments.
Jeezus...just had a look back at my side.
Based on this season i'd give it a 2.5/10.

75% were either injured or performed well below expectations.
Elliot was my best performer by a long way.

I'd be happy to give it a crack again.

Please don't pick any Carlton players next year then haha

I had McGovern and Ward with the premature forced retirements and a number of others who had LTI’s. A few “inspired selections” but squad would have struggled and needed top ups.

Nice to look back, certainly would enjoy another go. Just keep Ferris on dry land…
