G'day all.
I just found that a lot of people are online at the moment, and I reckon a chat channel on IRC would be good.
The other main afl chat channel on Austnet is a joke (#a.f.l) which is full of idiots.
I was thinking we could create a good channel on Austnet for some intelligent discussion and not just flaming, much like the bigfooty boards.
If nobody knows what IRC is, I'll try give a quick explanation.
IRC (internet relay chat) is basically a network which you can connect to with an IRC client (mIRC, Klient are two popular ones) and then when you're connected to the server you can join various channels and chat with everyone.
If you want to download an irc client, try www.mirc.com
Once you're set up, try connecting to an AUSTNET server.
Once you're connected to Austnet, try joining the channel by typing..
/join #bigfooty
If you're an IRC regular this will all be a piece of cake, but if you've never used it before, it may be a bit daunting at first, but it's a good thing to use to kill time while on the net.
So remember, #bigfooty on AUSTNET!
