ahoy sailors. im just wondering if you guys like The Biggest Loser, and if you're excited that the show is coming to Australia!

I personally like the show, and that theres finally a reality show that has a proper purpose and decent viewing. watching fat people turn into skinny people really makes my day, lol.

its also good that the trainers are coming here to do the show.

Does anyone know if they have done a series anywhere else apart from the US?

thanks alot people

Don't think anywhere else. Of course, England will copy and do something that doesn't compare. Pimp My Ride, The Office, and Survivor are all examples where the original should not be copied.

That said, the show can do with some improvement. I'm undecided whether a male or female host would be better, maybe have both, really don't care. But, have to do away with having a fattie as the host. They might as well have Roseanne Barr host it if they really want to have a laugh.

And, the show needs to be more technical. Stuff this weight loss, and percentage weight lost. Talk about exacerbating the scales myth. They really need to look at body composition, and percentage fat loss. The show disadvantages those that put on muscle.

I've seen before and after shots of people that have stayed the same weight, but dramatically changed their body composition.

And maybe take and compare measurements. We'd like to see a full fitness profile. And add a fitness test to the show every 4 weeks. Be interesting to see those that can't do 1 push-up, then a couple months later can do 75 or more.

Good points but they will never put that into the show. The ratings are good, so there is no need for change.

The one in Australia starts February I think :thumbsu:

I don't mind your points in regards to TBL, but you're not alluding to The "original" Office (the British version, a masterpiece), being inferior to the one that Ricky Gervais sold to the very unfunny Americans to copy and destroy? I do agree that the original shows are usually always the best, except for the Australian Temptation Island taking apart both the US and British versions, simply for sheer debauchery purposes.

Sorry, back on topic, can't see the Aussie TBL being too bad, since it's all about fatties losing a truckload of weight no matter how you dress it up. Just need to maintain the tension of the weigh-in the yanks do quite well.

My missus sent an application in for myself, and we got a reply saying that im to small for the show.....i was shocked since io weigh in at a tiny 134kg......there are going to be some serious fatties on the aussie show cant wait

Read in the papers yesterday that the Aussie Biggest Loser will be on EVERY NIGHT at 7pm, sort of like the Big Brother Daily Show. Not sure that's what I wanted.

Re TV shows, what I was saying was:

US Pimp My Ride >>> UK Pimp My Ride
UK The Office >>> US The Office

It'd be like the Poms doing a Seinfeld. Why bother?

Just clarifying, and I agree whole heartedly.

Don't think it will have enough of an effect if it is on every night. Part of the US version being weekly is you get to see the difference a week makes, where you can see the kilos drop off the fatties. Showing it every night would be like watching grass grow. Not the way to go. Hope they prove me wrong, because I do enjoy the US version.

I think it will do ok, its not really an australian version because it has the american trainers and will be done the same, so its just the us version with an aussie host i guess.

with any luck the aussie host won't be fat. we need a good looking and fit aussie girl that has television experience. i'm not sure who fits that description.

Aussie host announced: AJ Rochester, who herself is a "big loser"

Wonder how long the weight loss will last.
with the way a couple of the girls looked after losing the weight, i reckon i could keep the kilos off with a fair whack of indoor exercise :thumbsu:

i luv the show and matt was my favourite but i really dont like suzy!! by the way they already have a uk version.....well it is pretty similar....its called fat chance and rather than having lots of ppl who compete against each other they have 2 families who compete to see which family loses the most weight but apart from that it is the same coz they have a weigh in and they have trainers and everything!!! i discovered this show on uk tv or wateva its called on foxtel but it sucks! apart from when these 2 teenage chicks had a punh up lol.

i think having the aussie version on every night will just get annoying and be a bit of an overkill as much as i luv the show!!!

Been very good so far, the Weigh In has started. The first weigh in, and this really is the most defining point of the entire series until the end.

As far as Aussie reality shows go the first episode was actually pretty well produced.

The key to such shows is that cast - and at least for the moment, most of them seem they have an interesting story to tell, and I can see viewers watching the progress of their favourite (and not so favourite) contestants.

Will people watch it five nights a week? I'm not sure, but it has more going for it than the usually mundane Big Brother daily shows or the ill fated Hot House.

One of them recently spilled the beans (food pun ? I dunno) about her exit from the show, apparently 10 execs are rather upset with her and are threatening to take away extra appearance fees.

Eww you like fat chicks :thumbsd:

I dont know why Im bothering, but there is a woman on there with a very pretty face, if she does well (i.e. lose a bit of weight) she will be very shaggable.

Im guessing by your comment though, that you're a virgin and would absolutley kill to have any female jump your bones, dead, overweight or 112 years old.

The Biggest Loser

Damn........id tap Fiona even if she didnt lose weight...:thumbsu:

Anyone say I????
