So, when is a good time for us to talk about the MRO and what should constitute a report? I know the tribunal is independant of the MRO process, but if the MRO says 3 weeks and the tribunal says none this suggests to me a pretty big disconnect around what's actually considered reasonable and proper.
If head office can't get this stuff right, what hope do 750-odd listed players have?
Please, can we have some constency from the AFL across strategy, umpiring, list management, rules, tribunal process. It's got such a "make it up as you go along" vibe.
What? This was a pretty simple question- if the tackle was bad, the penalty was 3 weeks because of the damage to the victim. If the tackle had as ok, there was no penalty.

This difference is absolutely based in law. It’s fine.

Tackle was good according to umpires

Spare a thought for Melbourne supporters…

Maynard ended Brayshaw’s career…
Moore finished petracca’s career with the Demons…
now Billy and checkers….

For a combined total of 0 weeks….
They are the only team in the last century to vote themselves out of existence, too.

Oh they really despise us now.

The only ones who are upset by this decision are Melbourne supporters and people who blindly hate Collingwood, so 90% of BigFooty.

Fortunately BigFooty is but a small fraction of the actual football following public.

Nailed it, Dean. Pin this on the door at HQ.

Just sort it out.

I checked Melbourne's bigfooty today and I cannot recall a single poster demanding that Frampton's suspension be upheld. Even Melbourne supporters could see that it was an accident.

Non issue really.

Maybe there could have been a process to send this straight to the tribunal ( on the grounds of “ this is too much of a grey area for me to adjudicate) rather than giving three weeks and expecting Collingwood to take it to the tribunal

Would have ended up with the same result though. There’s no way the MRO could have just let it slide, it needed a proper transparent process and thsts what we got.

I'm not entirely sure Billy felt like it was a non issue to be told he was getting three weeks unless the club took it forward.

Entirely unnecessary process that can be done in far better ways.

Edit: Just to be clear, it's the broader system that I take issue with, which is what the AFL has oversight and control of. And I've had more than my say on this so I'll leave it here. Get well Brody!

I'm ok with this whole process.

I thought he would be charged, but I also thought Collingwood would appeal any sentence and most likely win the case. I didn't think for a minute that there was any intent. Why would you deliberately hurt a former team-mate? Frampton was clearly distressed and sought out Mihocek post-game.

The right decision has been made IMO.

What sucks is that people hang shit on Frampton simply because of who he plays for, but to be fair still plenty from other clubs who support the decision.

All the very best to Brody. Hope he has a speedy and full recovery.

Disagree. Needed to go to the tribunal. To me it was simply a case of if Frampton had pulled him backwards to take him to ground when he was in a position where he was going to ground head first - it's a suspension. If it occured through Mihocek driving forward - then he rightly got off. I don't think you could tell from the footage. So a hearing was the right way to do it.

Justice!

Linda Lovelace can go crawl back in to the turd hole they came from.

At least tag me in or quote a post if you're going to take a shot. It's like these other cretins on this board who passive agressively 'dislike' posts rather than just acting like an adult and calling me an idiot.

I was wrong. I am often wrong. And front up when wrong. I'll crawl absolutely nowhere. I am sure I will piss you off again.

At no point did I say Billy did anything particularly unreasonable in a split second. My argument was A) an appeal was futile (wrong) and B) blaming Checkers was a bad look given the vision is far less conclusive than some on here thibk and C) Billy getting 3 weeks wouldn't be the end of the world given the stakes of a broken neck.

I also acknowledged that if Billy felt strongly about an appeal, then we were obliged to back him. I just didn't think it being club-led was the right call.

My recent dog in these fights is that the AFL is playing very, very loose with neck and head injuries. Tunnelling being the biggest concern, which nobody seems to give a sh*t about.

I accept that Billy doesn't need to be collectively punished for this and am glad to see him play, particularly when he has been one of our best all season.

Should never have been cited in the first place.

Billy's only contribution to the injury was simply being there.
